Really jealous. The EB is my favourite modern Falcon, especially in XR guise.

They both look like they will be stunning cars once you've finished fixing them.

Both the cars are now in the shed ready to start work. The XR8 is on the hoist and hopefully will start work on it next week. Will keep you all posted.

Thanks mate. Looking at getting them back to a very well looked after condition. I am not going all out for a show car look. Just as though someone bought them and really looked after them from new. Otherwise the bill will blow out because I will want everything perfect. Also want to have that money saved away for the FH.

I hear that - I'm still trying to work out what to do with my plastic fantastic EF. I'm lucky it's Gunmetal, because most of the LeMans Red ones kicking around have very little paint left on them through neglect. Yours look pretty good, but Red is hard work, and I'm not willing to do that again with a car, but the results speak for themselves - LeMans Red (and later Hot Chilli Red) suits the E Series perfectly.

How close are their VINS - in other words, could your sisters have been at Tickford at the same time?

Had a look today. VIN's are way off. Getting a parts car next week. Now that one may be another matter...

Been busy with work so not much happened during the week. Just missed out on an EB1 S-pack last week by 20 minutes! Would have been the perfect parts car for panels and interior. Having said that my local farmer/parts guru looks to have everything under control so maybe it was for the best.

Started the hoist up this morning. First time I have actually used it since I bought it over 12 months ago! Had a good look under the Falcon. Was a good chance to look at the multitude of jobs that I have to do and start a parts list for my wrecker.

With both cars in the shed it has been funny to see the interest it has caused from truckies that have come into our yard. All of them have been positive and I had an offer from one! Bought a cover for the XR6 so it will go under until I have to start work on it. The plan now is to start on the mechanicals next week. Get it started, then complete oils, filters change on everything. Would be nice to get them done and start on cleaning the engine bay as well. Will keep the updates coming.

Busy week with work again meant only a small amount of time on the XR8. First job is getting the car to fire up. Hook the battery up, power there, fuel pump OK and no start. Starter motor relay is clicking so I thought I'd start to look at the wiring. This is what I found.

Relays were rusted on and generally the areas were looking like shit. Not all the warning lights were coming up on the dash so I looked underneath. Not happy! Looks like there has been some sort of water damage there. Power is making it to the starter so I am assuming that there is a faulty wiring coming from the ECU or from the dash.

This morning put the car up on the hoist to give it a thorough once over to look for further signs of water damage. Apart from the rust on the lower sills the chassis rails etc are fine. It does also explain some of the water marks around the engine bay and front suspension. Pretty pissed at myself for making a rookie mistake! Plan for next week is to take the whole dash apart to assess the damage and check the wiring. Had to do this anyway as the dash is heavily cracked. Everything around the ECU looks OK but I will have to spend more time to see where the other faults are. Have got the Ford wiring diagram so hopeful I can make some progress over the next few week. If the wiring is too far gone will make an assessment on the project.

    Hectic.
“…The lies (Western slander) which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man are disgraceful to ourselves only…How one man single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades….A silent great soul, one of that who cannot but be earnest. He was to kindle the world; the world’s Maker had ordered so." - Thomas Carlyle
