Coutlhard & McLaughlin remind me of Prost & Senna in their McLaren days, Coulthard similar to Prost in that it seems he's trying to win the chsmpionship going as slow as possible whereas McLaughlin is like Senna trying to win doing fastest laps every lap.

So that’s the enduro cup over and traditionally you can start to look at who is a contender.

    My thoughts on the enduros.

Weird series in which I don’t think the true state of where teams are at was on show.

Rain, the brake issues, conspired to mask what’s going on and makes form a little hard to judge.

For some reason rain played a part in making PRA look better than their dry pace. Definitely making progress but they are still third on a dry track in race conditions and as such, chaz and below are now out for me.

They have resurfaced in NZ so those bumps are gone. The form guide going in based on previous years is a little muddy.

Newcastle is a new track so everyone is in the same boat.

I think this puts a premium on engineering so you would say T8 and DJR are equal.

It’s now between two drivers with Fabs an outside chance if either Scott or Jamie have a DNF.

Scott has taken over with car speed at DJR, in a straight up fight Fabs is a good number 2. Problem is he is racing two genuine number 1s.

My heart says Scott but I fear Jamie is in the box seat. Hope I am wrong.

While mathematically possible, now that the tight concrete track and co drivers are done with, the number of things required to fall in chaz or gizs favour are unrealistic. This was the danger round for me and it has been negotiated.

You can stuff up in NZ, Craig and tyres have shown us that but it’s harder.

It’s been a great season and it’s fitting it’s so close. Personally it would have been great to have been in the bag by now but that Whincup can’t be killed.
History is a statement, the future is a question.

Well, can't complain overall mind you.
Chaz's drive was great to watch, that livery has really grown on me and bravo on them getting the Enduro Cup, at its a Ford team grabbing it.
Starting from 13th you'd always think its a long way to the top but as long as your avoiding trouble and ring good laps as Premat had done sure did set up SMac for the chance.
What a call to come in early forcing the game changer and what an outcome that delivered ! brilliant pit and brilliant pace brought a huge grin to my face wtaching those last 30odd laps and the comments did they have enough int he tank to the finish etcetc - thinking what all at RB especially Dane must have felt as the last laps approached was so sweet !!
If that call didn't come off with a RB 1-2 likely the table would be looking quite different.
YNWA ! off to CL 2018.

While fantastic to see 2 Ford victories for me personally it was a disappointing weekend.

We've handed back the championship lead to Jamie which sets him up with only 4 races to go.

The Shell cars were uncharacteristically awful in the wet, Saturday's outcome may well define the championship.

While qualifying Sunday was also as bad at least they used the time post Qualifying to fix the cars as all 4 drivers did an excellent job charging through the field.

It's a shame Fabs couldn't get 3 spots further up and hold onto a psychological advantage over Jamie but to recover from 22 to 9th was a great effort.

Bringing Scotty in early and getting the undercut was a masterstroke of strategy and the Shell teams handle on fuel use is on point.

    Pokeakiwi will be very interesting.

    I hear you.
My comment should have been typed but it was in my mind - that it could have been worse.
Yes we got a couple of victories but I did say thankfully for the undercut it would have been a rb 1-2.
We need Fabs to get up so as its 2 vs 2 ongoing AND Chaz to hopefully really do well in NZ as well as Waters taking some RB points to hopefully turn it around for Newcastle.
Its going to be a close finish no doubt about it.
YNWA ! off to CL 2018.
Sydney is Sky Blue HAL Premiers/Champions 2017 - the Double.

    Its really a difficult scenario.

Need Scotty and hopefully Fabs finishing ahead of Jamie in most of those races which is going to be a stretch.

Jamie doesn't seem to have much bad luck so we will need to beat him on the track.

Last thing we need though is loosing points to Jamie from friendly fire.

I "hope" DJRTP and PRA can work something out but given Chaz is still fighting for a podium i doubt that's realistic.....
