Hell its an hour drive from the airport to Sandown.
True Norm, but I would be staying around Sandown for accommodation, Perth Melbourne, easy flight, hire car to Sandown, plenty of accommodation around Sandown.
Perth Sydney easy, connecting flight to Williamtown, maybe easy, then hire car to Newcastle, or as suggested Perth Sydney, then hire car to Newcastle, plenty of accommodation around Newcastle.
I would not fly Jetstar at all. unreliable, sardine cans at the best of times.
I would love to go to Phillip Island, but as others have stated it is a bit out of the way, Perth Sydney, then 3 hour drive to Bathurst, accommodation is nearly impossible in Bathurst.
We shall see, just another item on the bucket list.

unfortunately for racing purists, street circuits is where the revenue is. i don't have any figures to back it up, but my guess is street circuits are much better attended than dedicated facilities, esp the likes of ipswich (willowbank) which is kind of in the middle of nowhere.

yep, a long time criticism of the sport is the massive gaps between events. can make it difficult to follow along and keep track of what is going on, esp if you are just a casual observer.

the newecastle track looks like they have tried to replicate clipsal as much as they could. depending on the width of the streets and length, it looks like it should provide good racing.

Well I don't know about replicating Clipsal maybe its just that the geography is similar.
Did you know Newcastle was founded in 1804 Adelaide 1836 FYI - just some trivia
YNWA ! off to CL 2018.
Sydney is Sky Blue HAL Premiers/Champions 2017 - the Double.

I don't think Adelaide got much past 1836

If you can't see similarities in track layout to clipsal then maybe try spec savers

DJ was on Inside Supercars tonight. He commented that mid corner speed has always been an achilles heel of the Falcon and reckons that the new compound soft being introduced next year could solve that.

Rob, I was just saying despite the track looking similar to Clipsal its like why not the the canvas they worked with allowed.
Remember, your track was originally designed for F1 (that I attended the first 3) hence why its damn great for a street circuit.

Perth has to be next for a street circuit.
The W.A.S.C.C. have done nothing in the way of track lengthening or surface maintenance, at Barbagallo Raceway, the committee is in fact asleep at the wheel.
The only improvement I have seen to the track, in all the years I have lived here, is the Skaife garages, & modified Pit entry, exit, which destroyed all general admission viewing area's.
Ask Road_Warrior how he feels about the W.A.S.C.C.

They almost need to break the series into 3 separate series.

    - Traditional circuits.
    - Street circuits.
    - Enduro's.

With the overall champ based on the combination of results from all 3.

In the US the NASCAR and Off road Motorbikes have this.

With Motorbikes in particular they have the in door (Supercross) and outdoor (Motocross) series.
