I was in overnight, went into theatre about midday.

My hernia was all directly above belly button, so no sides were done.

Had shania twain concert to go to last night so I'm feeling a bit sore today haha. Bought the missus tickets for her birthday ages ago, Murphy's law that they'd do the op so close to the concert date. Day of bed rest I think and il be better.

sleeping sucks though, can only sleep on my back, any other position puts a lot of pressure on my belly.

D, you must be feeling better ?

Well I had mine done Tuesday night.
    A terrible experience.
Had to be in 3pm, I felt like I was the lone soldier very empty told after the rush.
Told running late, didn't need that.
I finally got towards theater and the usual questions for the 50th time and the anesthetist double checking me.
I thought fuck me this is dragging on but at least I'm about to go under, 9pm !
2hrs under in lalaland BUT upon the reversing to get woken up I wake gasping for air !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm like seeing them all around me holding me down and I'm crazily sucking air in short breaths - I felt like I was going I tell you. I felt it went on for ages, Horrible experience. (Ian you know what I mean)
Being delirious by that stage I'm told I'm going to ICU - Intensive Care Unit for overnight observations.
Fark me, in a private room and the nurse's were really good making sure I was ok and giving me drugs so as I could sleep some.
    No matter the drugs I was waking up every hour - 2am 3am 4am 5am - I'm groggy as.
Finally drink some water and then apple juice.
Thank christ the plumbing wants to work I thought I'm pissing in utter relief I'm alive.
Vitals were all coming good, needles here needles there.
I had to ask can I get something to eat ?! I hadn't eaten since 7am previous day ffs.
So there I was waiting waiting in ICU and asking the nurse when is someone going to explain what has just gone wrong and when I get up to the ward.
They tried calling the ward they were flat out left msgs to call back.
I'm getting sick and tired waiting at 11.30am or abouts having my mobile I call up my Specialists office get his secretary.
I said you mightn't believe this but I'm a current patient calling from the bed wondering WTF.
Maybe I was too impatient I don't know but she said he was in consolations, all I said get him to call up the ward and get fucken things going I'm hanging here like a sore thumb forgotten !
I was in shock what I experienced, I felt I saw my life flashing by me, my kids wife everything was going through my mind when I was gasping for air so I was feeling quite anxious/angry by that stage.......

He did call me back but I couldn't answer nurse's were washing me at the time but it must have worked for I got notice getting up to the ward.
Finally get there, I could finally get up and have a walk for a mo, brush my teeth and face.
    I felt alive again.
    Lunch came at 2pm.
I also had concerns regards my pick up, wife was working and had the ol man on stand by, 87yrs.
We expected to get out between 10am-midday, there i was having concerns for my ol man having to drive in peak traffic etcetc as well.
More checks and I was given the all clear to get home.
Called the oldies for earlier on I didn't wish them to know what I went through making them worry OTT.
They actually had called the Hosp but they couldn't get any answers so they did end up worried and pissed off.
Its funny I'm 58 ffs and upon seeing Mum and Dad come into my room I broke down hugging my Mum.
I'm so lucky having both oldies still around but relief seeing family after what I went through blew the pipes I must have needed to.
When I recollect the gasping telling Mum I just broke right down.
I did it again whilst getting the tabs etc in the pharmacy, they could tell I was shaken up brought me tissues/drink of water.
No place like Home, I've been falling asleep off and on like mad, shows what my bod had gone through, D I'm in pain, don't know how you went out following day, I could but it would be hurting.
Lying down I'm ok, sitting up I'm not.
Just glad I can sleep and chill out.
I have a small tab that lasts 12hrs similar to endone.
I have had ops before never reacted like this but what a 24hrs I tell you.
I'll know more when I spend some time talking to the Specialist and Anesthetist but for now I just want to get my act together.
YNWA ! off to CL 2018.

Yeah Im heaps better now, only get pain if I bend over too far or hit a rough piece of road when I'm driving.
Sleeping is still a bit iffy though, tend to fall asleep on the couch more than bed.
Took my last dressing off yesterday finally so that made things a bit more comfortable. I told work I won't be back unti the new year so I'm giving it the best chance to heal up I can.

Your experience is pretty terrible, I thought mine had issues haha.
They didn't contact my missus to tell her I was out of surgery, or when she could come and get me. So when I asked in the morning they said about 10am so that's what I told her. Then the surgeon came round just after 8, had a quick look and told me I could go home. Before I knew it the cleaners were in there ripping the sheets off the bed and cleaning everything down. Felt like I was being shoved out the door. Funny considering they made such a point about making sire if have a career etc.

First three or four days are the worst, improves pretty quickly after that I found.

Be interesting to see what your doc says about the issues you had.

    Thanks Gal.
    I am feeling better today.
D, Interestingly I was able to cope on my side to sleep last night.
Yer getting up and down, or trying to bend hurts but straight up I'm ok.
So my 3rd day recovery - by Sunday I should be in a much better space me think.

Yes no matter the hosp its like a factory to me, in out in out.
    I felt the same.

Touch wood as said they are still both here.
Getting better overall today, guts/groin still tender but I went out of the house today for lunch.
Felt good to just go and do something.

Good to hear you're on the improve.

Honestly, I haven't felt this good in probably 18 months. I'm amazed how much the hernia was actually affecting me day to day.
The hard part now is stopping myself from over doing things.
I cleaned up my garage today, and stopped myself from the full rearrange I'm planning just because I know it's a bit early.
Still felt good to achieve something lol.
