    Bit warm?

I read all over the place that it has been a bit warm in the southern states in the last few days. Sort of like it is in QLD all the time in summer.

I am sure you are all out enjoying the twilight though as daylight saving is still in force.

Now do you understand why we don't want it?

Waiting on the snow down here. If it wasn't for 100kph winds it would be.

Did you know Tasmania has the biggest spread of day light hours.

20:00 here and it's till daylight. We have about another 30 minutes left

Yes exactly. The further you are from the equator the bigger it gets. That is why DLS works downs there.

We recorded 51 and 52 yesterday and today respectively. Our back yard is like a giant heat trap lol, no breeze and rock retaining walls. Car was showing 47 in Springfield yesterday.

I still want daylight savings. It's dark already and it's still 32.

yer some mad temps as we've mentioned in another thread.
    Sydney Saturday hovered around 42-45c.
    It was damn Warm.
DLS is fantastic Flappist. Whats wrong with Qld having sunsets around 9.30pm, bloody marvellous, can do so much, well not Qlders its always manyana, in other words tomorrow.
YNWA ! off to CL 2018.
Sydney is Sky Blue HAL Premiers/Champions 2017 - the Double.

Because we do not have sunsets at 930pm. The earth is round not flat and the reason why DLS works is that the axis is 23 degrees from perpendicular to the orbit of the sun therefore below and above 23 degrees from the equator (the tropics of capricorn and cancer) the length of the days changes significantly depending on where we are in the yearly orbit. The closer to the poles, the bigger the change. This is also why the winter days are so short down where you are.
As most of QLD is in the the tropical area all we will get with DLS is an extra hour of stinking hot in the afternoon and tradies etc starting before daylight.

Nowhere on earth is there DLS in places that are in the torrid zone. Look at a map and see exactly where the equator and tropics are.
If you were to take the top half of the world and turn it upside down USA would be south of Sydney, Europe would be south of Melbourne and pommyland would be about half way between Hobart and Antarctica.
