FAPA had expressed that they wanted to do a Raptor for many years,
perhaps the original brief was dusted off and followed too closely....

    for our market.

There has been some suggestions the V6 isnt a good fit for the bay yet and it will require pressing changes before it hits the US market.

Not sure how true that is.

Go back a step, the Ranger was only ever designed to accept Inline engines,
so not only does the engine bay need redesigning but the crash protection
data is all out the window and be under no illusion, Ford wouldn't want to
spend on what it sees as heavy updates, this late in the product cycle,
not with the final MCE done to run through to 2021.

The Americans are late back to the table, they wanted in on Ranger knowing
that the last MCE was done and just wanted a version without too much added
cost. The 2.3 Ecoboost gets them a foot in the door that will barely be two years
until the all new T6 arrives....they're nearly 18 months in by now..

This does make sense as a big picture Asia Pacific view point.
Thailand/Malaysia/Philippines/Vietnam etcetc general consumers small business etc cannot afford V8's.

The whole thing just reeks of hypocracy and arrogance.
