When looking back at the series we were not that far off. Good teams know when and have the ability to step up at key moments. Australia do not have that at the moment. There are a number of reasons why and we cannot expect to see these things sorted in the never near future. There is a bigger problem at play with Australian cricket. Until it is identified and recognised at a higher level we will not change.

I think personally that the batsmen did as well as their current skill sets allowed. The lack of patience in crucial moments is once again about the environment that they were developed and are currently in. During the series there were some very poor comments made the by batting coach, and I do use that turn extremely loosely with the retard currently in the position, which provides an insight into everything that is wrong with that batting group.

There had to be changes to the squad for the Sri Lankan series. No hassle there. However, I do feel sorry for some of the batsman that have been punted. They have been failed by the system. A system that could have seen them shine this summer, but instead have seen them hounded by a public that is ignorant of the true issues and now being put back to state duties. Enough said on this matter.

Good luck to the Aussies. They are working hard. Paine has been brilliant. He is the right man for the moment. Langer will be brilliant. However, there are a number of others that need to be held accountable yet for the position we are in. Time will tell whether they are.

So apparently the Aussies failed to Fail? About time they had a win. Didn't watch the game ( Paytv won't happen here) but it didn't sound overly exciting.

I missed the game as well but watched the highlights.

Looked like a good standard of game and at least competitive

I don't go out of my way to watch ODI anymore.
Once that BB came along I've given it away for its just too much cricket.
I used to love it back in the good days but how can you compare when you've gone to the SCG and see V Richards/Garner/Loyld/Marshall/Ambrose etcetcetc....guys from that time and the aussies would make these wannabee politically correct players cry cry and cry just from sledging let alone being owned with bat and ball.
The game has just turned into being a money spinner and these heavy schedules have screwed up up and coming talent and some into "specialist's ala BB for eg.
    Only watch/follow Tests.

I watched most of today's play, a fair turn for us? Maybe it will help the team get back a bit of fighting spirit after sandpapergate?

I was able to watch the NZ vs India match today and India did the same thing to NZ that they did to us, won by 7 wickets NZ 243 49 overs and India, 3/245.
Maybe the jinx on OZ cricket has crossed the Tasman?
