I have a love hate relationships with this facet of appearance. Every second day I change my mind on what would look good and what wouldn't. With all the choice that we have, i have to say very little appeals to me, and then there is the brake issue as in clearance. Right now i wouldn't mind a set of macello mt01s in 20s but that will change tomorrow. Wheels and ride height can make such a difference to appearance. Whats peoples thoughts on this cosmetic front?
I know your pain, it was horrible trying to find a decent set of rims to fit over the brembos on my FPV. The range that allows sufficient spoke clearance is particularly limited. Then if you extend the criteria to cover rim weight with correct load rating it gets even harder. I eventually decided on a set of Gmax kazei in 19", suited the car and saved 4kg per wheel with the correct load rating. A great set of wheels and they actually stood up to pot holes better than OEM FPV wheels did.

I have gone through a couple over my years as some know, like you mention Ian before I know it I'm out of love getting another set.
This is my therapy when in the $2 - 3.5k budget and I have treated these as a consumable at times hit the mark with some not with others.
One reason not fitting brembos to mine is the limited choices as mentioned BUT there is good pickings imo just the ones I would want cost from $8k +.......
Ian you have lovely mesh on your AU and how good does it look some BBS mesh staggered are automotive wheel porn imo for a start.
Note not all Marcellos clear brembo's as my current ones don't.
I want to shift them long time overdue but have neglected this for as long as I can remember - heck 2yrs + same wheels on the girl !
I must get back on the wheel and get something done haha
Check out ADV.1 some sexy/tuff choices imo.....
My thoughts are don't change the GT rims and buy the best available tyres to suit.
I think the key to using aftermarket rims is to treat them like accessories. You like the original wheels, but also like trying on something different when then mood takes you. This how I see the wheels on the WASP for example. I love them but there are times where I would prefer to refit the factory wheels. Long term I would like to have a few sets of wheels at my disposal that will fit the WASP and possibly other Falcons I have at the time to. I did this years ago when I had the XBGT. I liked the factory 12 slots and chrome GT caps, but other times I preferred to fit the pro-stock American Indy Centrelines especially if I was feeling like showing her off.
Thats one way to do it Colville and thats it they are accessories imo - my factory rims sit in the garage, when needed slip them on.
When I want to give the 20's are real good cleaning off they come, sent not long ago to a wheel repairer to take out some minor marks whilst the genuines take their place.
One more set won't go astray LOL......

I agree aswell, I have never been a fan of changing to aftermarket rim's, even though there are some nice looking aftermarket rim's out there, I like the original's.Quote:
