John Waterman has joined Dick Johnson Racing

ENGLISHMAN John Waterman has joined Dick Johnson Racing with the main focus of heading up the Queensland team’s Car of the Future build program.

The senior engineer had his first on-track taste of V8 Supercars at the Sandown test day on Saturday in Melbourne, though made a covert trip to Symmons Plains in November last year prior to taking on his new role.

Waterman is fresh from a five-year stint as engineer for Alain Menu in the Chevrolet works team in the World Touring Car Championship and previously worked for Triple Eight with its Vauxhall program in the British Touring Car Championship.

He is acting as race engineer for Dean Fiore on DJR’s #12 Jim Beam Falcon but will spearhead the team’s Car of the Future build program in preparation for the start of the 2013 season.
