The msd on an AU will give you better idle, smoother power and generally feel better on the throttle response. But it should have new leads and plugs to go with it.
I have done them and msd leads on all my AU V8s
Personally not a fan. Almost every person I know who has used MSD gear has has problems with plugs and leads failing prematurely. I'd be getting some OE coilpacks ASAP.
Still got the originals on mine and going great, whats the saying if it ain't broke !.
I have to agree with Jeff - I hear of more hassles than trouble free motoring many times over the years.
I think if most were honest they would say they get msd's for the look as much any perceived gains.
That's why I was gonna get them lol.
Only issues you will have is the plugs wont last 100k like everyone expects them too. But if your on a stock engine, then just leave it as factory. Having said that, the factory ones are known to fail along with the cruddy leads that Ford used with the nice arc out boots :P
Tim I haven't had any factory leads fail with standard coils and as you know that's includes a lot of kms in quite a good number of Windsors. The only leads I have had that were not up to scratch were Top Gun - they were thrown in the bin after a very short term. I bought two sets of leads from our mate in the west years ago and they were good. But mostly I stick with the Bougicord leads and have no complaints. And I've never replaced plugs on any on my cars at under 100,000km.
Like I said Jeff, at the end of the day, its each to their own. If stock works for you, then so be it, it might not work for others.
