Plastic GT'including Tickford & FPV's

Guys/Girls, how many of you feel like you are treated like also rans at Falcon GT Displays?
Reason I am asking is, some people have noted there is at least 3 awards per class at the GT Nationals.
Sadly the plastics have one maybe two awards per year of build, no modified award, no best boot award, no award for participating in track events, etc.
I hope I am wrong, unless the car was raced at Bathurst, the Steel Bumper Crowd, shun the plastics?
Of all the GT Nationals I have attended, the plastics cop a raw deal, why?
I have half a mind to join with the "T" Series Brothers for their Nationals!!!

Plastic cars always get a raw deal compared to the chrome bumper crew.
but it'll change as the dinosaurs move on, and the people who grew up idolising plastic are running the show.

The majority of GT clubs are run by and patronized by the "Chrome bumper" owners, and yes, the racing heritage seems to create a different perception of the 2 era's of products, that's why.

As well as this "chrome bumpers" are much much safer cars to own if you are a performance car enthusiast whose skill is washing and polishing far exceeds your driving aptitude.

You have an excuse why you always go slowly on track days, never go to skid pans or motorkhanas and spend most of the time looking not driving.

You don't want to dirty/risk/stress/whatever the "precious".

This of course has nothing at all to do with it being hard to preserve the "tough car, tough driver" image when you are being lapped by red p platers in their mum's auto XT......

It's not just plastics. I'm an XB GT owner, and there was a time where XA and XB GTs were considered second class citizens.
If it wasn't an XW or XY it wasn't a real GT. Some people still think like that. Just look at the repro parts market if its an XW/XY you can pretty much buy what you want, even though ford sold more XBs than XYs back in the day.

Fair call Norm, but a lot of the classic GT owners also own Fantastic Plastics.
Come club events, drive days etc, the fantastics come out?

You get the excuse " Ah, it's too hot, it's too cold, looks like rain " so my race bred "real" Falcon GT is at home in the shed!!!
Come show & shine time, the poor old plastics get shoved up in the corner out of sight.
As for me I like them all, from XR to the current FG.
The Falcon GT has evolved & changed to suit the times, I wish some of the classic owners would change as well.

Yes i remember those days, when i was in the GT Club of Australia i had a fully restored 1973 Manual XBGT and it was inferred the XBGT was the soft GT till they realized the 73 manual used exactly the same US made Big Port 4V Cleveland engine, toploader gearbox and 9" diff as the XYGT and XAGT... LOL

As far as I am concerned, i own fake Gts. The GT ended with XB.

I now expect to be treated poorly.

I dont know but i suspect there could something at Bathurst this year. If there is i would rather put one of them on the boat than do the nationals.
