G'day, I have a 302 from a 1992 F100, i would like to rebuild it and put it into my XT falcon wagon, I will not be running the fuel injection though. Can anyone tell me if these blocks are the same as a standard earlier model Windsor? Also I have been told they have smaller big end bolts and head bolts, are these engines still suitable to use if I was going to look for some serious horsepower mods?
Welcome Aussie, in a word no, these blocks are not as strong as early Windsor blocks, personally I wouldn't chase more than 400hp/6000rpm with these late model blocks, either get yourself an early block or an aftermarket block.
I hate to be the fun police but you may also want to get in touch with your local department of transport.
If I remember right when swapping engines in an old car with a motor from a newer car you have to retain all the emission control equipment of the newer engine. So in plain terms you would have a 60's model car that had no emission control equipment now having to comply with the emission standards of 1992.
Which seems completely illogical for force the car to comply with emissions regs it never had to when it was manufactured, it should be the other way around.Quote:

Ok thanks, I'm pretty sure your right about the emissions but if I am going to have club rego sorted before I do the swap so am happy to run the risk after that.
