Tell us about your XE
I'll start something ... I have an '82 XE ute ... really just an total work hack, but it is kept in good nick just the same, and gets lots of looks where ever I take it.
It started life as a base model but has had lots of mods over it's years and kms. Colour is Monza.
S-pack front and painted bars. Dechromed - replaced with black. S-pack instrument panel and ZK door trims. ZL seats and remote mirrors. 5 speed manual with 2.92 LSD/disc brake rear end. Running straight gas via twin 54l tanks through EFI inlet tract from ZL. Hotwires ... 7s front and 8s rear with 215/235 60 14s.
My love affair for XEs started with my S-pack EFI back in '83. Looking back it was without any doubt the most "inexpensive" car I ever owned. I say that because all my cars had extensive mods to get them how I wanted a car to be. The XE had hardly anything spent on it to get what I required. A set of Bilsteins, nolathane used selectively through the suspension, and a 5 speed manual box (I imported from the US in '85). With a 2.72 LSD/disc brake rear end it drove exceptionally well and it's top end was way above comparable V8s of the era. It was a genuine 200km/h car all day and never moved a muscle even at that speed - non power steering - and you could control it with (literally) one finger on the wheel.

I love XE's too. Ute sounds good, feel free to post some pics.

To me, the quintessential XE is the Fairmont Ghia ESP. I'll take mine in charcol, with a 351 manual combo thanks.

Hey guys, first time posting on this Forum
I have what I consider to be one of the cleanest straightest and original XE ghia's I have ever seen. YES she's only a 6 banga with T bar auto, but shes my pride and joy and turns heads everywhere she goes. Shes been an inland QLD car all her life and was bare metal resprayed by the 2nd owner back in 2000. He tells me there was no rust, and or no paneling to be done, infact it was one of the most cleanest shells they had ever worked on. Its presentation today is not far off from perfect IMO.............. and to think I came very close to selling her this year!!! tsk tsk tsk.
The 2nd ower tells me he had it resprayed so it could then take part in the 2000 75th Ford Anniversary conference in Melbourne. He and his wife drove it from Pittsworth QLD to Melbourne and back.
He was invited by Ford to drive it on Fords testing oval where it was photographed by the media.
Im looking forward to meeting him one day, so I can indeed see these media pictures of my car, he also has the original issuing license plates for the car as well (The car is on personal plates when I bought it)
