Distance to Empty gauge not functioning

Hello all,
I recently picked up a FG G6 with 57,000 kms on the clock. After about a week or two of driving it, I noticed the distance to empty suddenly switched to zero, even when there is a full tank. A week later, and another tank, still same problem. Any ideas on why this might be? My last car was a BF II which I owned for six years, and the DTE gauge was spot-on and super reliable. Surely Ford didn't make any changes to the sender or computer?

So the gauge works but the DTE doesn't?

If thats the case then its a software issue in the cluster. The fuel sender in the tank is wired directly to the cluster so the DTE takes its info from the gauge and your driving style.

Maybe try disconnecting your battery for an hour or two.

yes, the fuel gauge still works, I will give the battery disconnect a crack.
