5-6 weeks?
Seriously? That long?
Physical construction of the car will only take a day or something. It's the scheduling before and after that takes all the time. The other bottleneck is the paint shop as the cars need to be 'rested' after painting.
In fact, if memory serves me correctly, when I toured the plant in 2010 I was told that it takes about 90 minutes to “build” a Falcon, but the aforementioned paint shop bottleneck and other issues (like shunting them off to the special builds area like with the last of the FPV’s and of course XR8’s and the Sprints) takes up more time.
Bugger.
That will completely fuck up my NT holiday. And if the ALP idiots are elected in NT later this year then there will be no more open zones.
i heard the car was in the body assembly area for 11 days, thats 11 working days, so just over 2 weeks
I have a beautiful AU Series III Fairmont Ghia you may borrow if required for just such calamities Tony :D
Seriously genuine offer .. i have just rebuilt it and it needs a good thrashing...
In return i may need to borrow your Sprint for 12 sec or so on a wed night come winter...
Not sure where people are obtaining their production estimates from, but consider for a moment that the individual processes involved in assembling a car (sans paint cure) are usually dealt with in minutes for each process (seconds in some cases), not hours or days.
Oh, and welcome back Daz :highly_amused:
