Just reading a Repco catalogue, they mention about the need to do an oil change on the Ranger/BT-50 within 10 minutes or risk the oil pump draining and not priming upon start up with fresh oil.

Has anyone heard of this - and are there any other Fords that have this requirement?

I'm fairly certain I've read service advice like that somewhere else too, I'll see if I can locate it.

I wonder how many other cars have this type of pump?
I tend to not rush when draining oil and feel like I want to get as much of the old stuff out as possible. Could be a trap for home mechanics in the future.

On the topic of oil, I did an oil change in my efxr8 prior to Ford fanatics day in Vic, I bought liqui moly fully synthetic which i find is not a bad oil, however not cheap either. So my question is this, now I have full synthetic oil in the engine, is this the only oil type I can use from now on? I've heard that once U use 100% synthetic oil U can't go back to the 1/2 N 1/2 or non synthetic oil.
Yes, my BT50 had the oil drained for an extended period of time, after that had an engine TICK which could not be fixed.
It's not a new thing and has been around since the PX first came out.
I do hope Repco are a bit better with their advice than their graphics though, bottom left is a VW TSI engine and top right is an XR6T engine. Neither found in a Ranger!
