FG MK2 Sat Nav upgrade

Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade the factory sat nav in my 2013 FG Mk2 XR6T.

It seems that you can upgrade the factory sat nav for an FG Mk1 by purchasing a sim card from the navshop, but there is nothing available for the Mk2.

I called the Ford service department near my work at Peter Warren Smithfield to see if they can upgrade it for me. They said just go to your nearest ford spare parts shop, pay for the upgrade and they'll give you a receipt with a code on it.

Once you get the code simply visit the website, punch in the code and download the upgrade onto a USB. Plug the USB it into your and wait for it to download.

I went to my local parts shop at Sinclair Ford, and they told me the info I received was incorrect because there are no more updates for the Mk2 and it is now obsolete.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Is there a way around this, or are we Mk2 owners stuck with this outdated sat nav system for good?

I haven't spoken to any of the local sales team. I figured it was better to speak directly to the service department (the people who would probably perform the install) and spare parts division.

What city are you in. Many here know dealers who are "better" to deal with.

No more updates for FG2. Stopped in 2015.

Same question was asked on FB a few days ago.

You need to get a separate unit and integrate it. A few aftermarket kids were available but seem to have dried up

No issues with FGX. The updates keep coming. I think we're at K4 now (can't remember the letter, but we are at 4. The Sprint just missed the 4 map as it came out a week after my service, the Everest got it though. And they are free as part of Ford's Sync promise of free Map upgrades with a service.

It really sucks cause you can get a map update for BA, but not FG2!

Also while we are sooking about sync does anyone know how to hang up a call other than by pressing the red button on either the screen or the phone?

Press on phone $301,721 fine and 400 points

If satnav is running then:
1) find tiny bit in corner and press to go to phone menu
2) try again as it went some other stupid place
3) swerve back onto correct side of road
4) try again to press this fucking screen
5) swerve back onto road from gutter
6) swear
7) finally press the bloody red button
8) press it again as it is having a tantrum
9) give up and just pick up the phone and press the button
10) turn the satnav back on while ticket for using a mobile phone while driving is being written and work out where the $301,721 is going to come from after you tried to obey the law only endangering about 50 other road users.

There must be another way but if it is in the book it is hiding.....
