So what's everyones thoughts after first rd
Whatever i think, it's gonna be the opposite of everyone else here so i won't bother...
Good thread idea tho' !
It's about where I thought it would be. Control shocks have levelled the field somewhat, it's going to be somewhat of a variable grid until the better resourced teams have a chance to optimise the rest of the suspension package around what they need to be able to tune in the cars that they can't correct with damper changes.
Car speeds not too effected by the aero changes, jury is out on whether it helps passing. Generally the more you standardise the cars with control bits the more passing will be reliant on mistakes from other drivers and given these blokes should be the top 20 drivers in the country it'll be line astern racing.
The strong drivers were expected to be Chaz, SVG, Whincup and McLaughlin and that's pretty much what we got. If WAU's form carries on to traditional circuits will be interesting to see.
Consistency will be key, we've got one of the best in the business at that, but they have two. GP will be interesting to see how it goes on an aero track. Will be a learning experience all over again as conditions at Tailem Bend on the test day were far from ideal.
C'mon 1372 share.
Personally it was OK racing but I think changes made so far haven't had desired effect. About the best move of the weekend was Scotty n his team Pitstop on Saturday otherwise I feel we'd be looking at a 123 Holden win on Saturday.
Chaz used same plan Sunday to good effect but had nothing in terms of catching leaders.
I think if whincup didn't make a mistake in shoot out it would of been a lockout by t8 n who knows where Reynolds would of finished in shootout had his engine not given out.
I really feel commo certainly have an advantage at the moment which carried over from last yr and feel they'll become stronger as season progresses.
T8 suspension failure again, svg last yr, percat n svg this wkend, why? Is the design they are using that is fragile? Should sc be taking a closer look at it? Seems like a weak point, so what are they up to?
Drivers seem to comment that it's difficult to over take due to the dirty air from following car in front. Wait n see if the racing improves next rd.
What r ya thoughts on the low crowd numbers? I think people have been through a bit lately n so racing is an expense they couldn't afford. Also an earlier date might be a reason, there's a lot going in adl at the moment. Racing, fringe n probably a couple of food n wine festivals. Don't know why they changed it. Could it also be holdens death?
Wau has already flagged not running commo next season.
Commo definitely has an advantage at the moment, unless you believe the poster's that don't understand the cream DOES eventually rise to the top.
No other way giz could lap like he did on 30 lap old tyres AND a broken front sway bar and make Scotty's mustang ( was he sandbagging ) look like it had the handbrake on, because he knew he was going to get the win after giz took a splash n' dash.
How he didn't take Cam out when the lower control arm broke was just good luck at best, but damn i was on the edge of my seat at the time !
Bring on more of it i reckon !!
Main grandstand looked full for yesterdays race.
Anyone can post the 3day figure compared to previous years ?
Just saw somewhere, 206,000 over the 4 days, worst attendance to date.
Does it matter tho' ?
yes regards revenue it does, companies/business's that have invested for the event.
Its not just about the Main series sponsers, its the local input at every meet.
For eg SA Gov, they back it, IF crowds are down and keep going down why would anyone invest.
Agree with Daz that the Commodores seem fastest at the moment. SVG rung the neck out of his car and if he could maintain it, can't see anyone touching him. Unlike others I am not sure whether they have got the parity right. However, teams will need a few more rounds to learn a little more. The better drivers were at the top and this should always happen, regardless of parity. Very happy with Reynolds weekend. The more that gimp fails the happier I am.
