My head says
keep it simple. Rebuild the factory engine for extra torque and durability i.e. Stroke it, lumpy cam (2000- 6500 range) and port the heads and open up the inlet manifold. Keep it looking factory. Big torque increase and a modest power one. Reliable and relatively economical. i.e.The factory block gets a bit stressed over 500 hp
My heart says
Pull the factory engine and get it engineered with a Ford Racing crate engine and model 6 speed manual. Something light that revs, but also unique will work nicely in an AU like the 5.2L ALUMINATOR drivetrain from the GT350.
The in-between option..
Pull the factory engine. Replace with a Dart block /rotation assembly 363 stroker (3.400-inch stroke just like a 347, but it uses 4.125-inch bores instead of a 4.030.), AFR 205 heads, 8 trumpet manifold injection for that V8 Supercar soundtrack.
BOSS 363 Stroker.
Dart SHP 8.2 Windsor Block with 4.125 bore.
Scat 3.40 stroke forged Crank + H beam Rods.
SRP forged Pistons - Cleveland valve reliefs.
CHI Alloy Cleveland 208 3V heads.
Custom Street Hydraulic Roller Cam - 3000- 6500 rpm.
Borla 8 throttle Body EFI injection with custom inlet pan and filters.
I should add I want to retain EFI and if possible factory integration too.
I recon it will too.
Hence. my first option rebuilding and optimizing the factory unit.

I have been quoted 10k to recondition and effectively get me back to 185kws.
Given what I own I don’t need power. I want people to notice it at the likes so originally cam and another exhaust system was the limit.
I’m sure I can do better than 10k on the refresh but I’m getting to the point where I’m not sure I want spend that sort of money to not move on.
I then started watching YouTube videos
I have tried to talk to a few suppliers but none are interested. You can’t get parts in these covid times.
It's a shame you can't travel.
I'd introduce you to Mick Webb, he is the master of Ford Small blocks, would easily build you something nice for way under 10k if you're staying mostly factory.

As is the case with me I started out like this
Checks comp to see how bad the bores might be but it’s going to need boring
Heads need complete rebuild, springs valves and seals
Cats will be stuffed, change cam and exhaust. Lumpy idle make ecu works somehow.
If I am boring this block 30 then stroker kit. Hmmm.
Not a fan of a stock block for this so a dart 302 block 347 config.
Then I find out you can get dart 347 sbf short blocks 8.5 deck.
That means I just have to gets hands and intake. Thinking AFR 185 heads with trickflow EFI intake.
Then colville corrupts me. 347 is so 2010. 363
