Same as before. It was about $15k more than a Model Y. They're now $20k more on road. Dead before it starts.
They are within $2k in the US but $20k in Australia seems acceptable to Ford Australia.

Officially confirmed last week a price drop for Mach E.
Select is a 7k reduction
Premium is a $4676 reduction
Gt is a $2675 reduction.
Step in the right direction but still needs to drop more or they won't be competitive. I called this weeks ago. Seems demand isn't what they had hoped for.
What sort of drop needs to happen from.this point mate?
Most basic specs:
Model Y is $68,319 drive away now
Mach E $77,048 driveway.
Still $9k off even with the $7k reduction. Just shows you how poorly priced it is
It's arguably much better looking and has a more relatable brand association (Mustang) for those new to the EV market and stepping from mainstream brands like Ford, Holden, Chrysler etc.
Does that justify the price difference though? Probably not.
The price drop on Mach E may help move a few more units but I can't see it challenging the Model Y in real terms.
Your last line is exactly my thoughts. As much as I love Ford and Mustang, I can't justify the price difference.
Just like most of the market couldn't justify the price difference between the Camaro vs Mustang. Even die hard Holden fans jumped on Mustang for the $20k price difference.
I also did want the Mustang E to do well here for Ford, but it's come a little too late missing that initial wave of EV takeup, and has landed with a high price tag in a rapidly competitive environment. I suspect eventually it will find its market position and sweet spot as a niche option, in particular the GT option.
I was initially looking to order a GT myself, if available back in 2022 when I ordered the Volvo instead.
