FPV GTHO's Silk XT
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/1443/img0368tm.jpg
This is my BF2 XT. I purchased it used from a local car yard about September 2010 and it replaced my N13 Pulsar as a daily. At the time i also had an EB2 Fairmont but it'd been stripped down to be rebuilt, and since aborted.
I couldve easily had the car payed off by now if i didnt start modifying it, but where would the fun be in that. Over 2 years, ive slowly built it up to where it is now, but whats been changed the most is the exhaust. Ive had 2 sets of extractors, 3 (soon to be 4) cats, 3 centre assemblies and 2 rear assemblies. My first combo was a Hurricane extractor/200cell cat combo with a 2.5 Redback cat back. Then i bought a 3" 100 cell cat and had it fitted professionally. At the same time i changed the centre muffler to a smaller Lukey muffler whilst also having a single piece of pipe connecting the extractors to the rear assembly in an effort to get more ground clearance. It had a nicer idle with a meatier note, but cruising it was droney and was only press bent. Next step i found a used XR8 exhaust and fabricated my own merge pipe. At the same time though i found my 100 cell cat had a partially collapsed substrate so i changed to an oval 200 cell cat. The last revision has been replacing my Hurricane extractors for a used set of PH4495's. The install wasnt as clean as i hoped so now with the new cat i also have a BF Typhoon cat section to fit to replace my custom one.
Induction setup is an SS Growler with modified John Bowe Bigmouth, Territory intake pipe, Mace Engineering upper and lower plenum spacers and hand ported manifold. Other engine mods are 20% underdrive and lower temp thermostat.
Looks wise the car is lowered on Pedders springs 15mm lower than XR height with Enkei RPF01 18x8/18x9 wheels.
Handling wise ive got the Pedders GSR shocks, Whiteline 27/22mm sway bars and DBA 4000 front rotors with Ferodo performance pads. Ive got a full set of Territory brakes sitting around waiting for funds to allow DBA rotors and better pads.
Lately ive been regularly taking the car to WSID each Wednesday night. My best time has been a 14.425 at just under 98MPH and another run i did a 14.44 and just under 99MPH. Those runs i had my Lukey exhaust and Hurricanes fitted, as well as a little weight reduction with no spare tyre/jack and also my passenger side headlight removed. With everything kept in for street spec it ran 14.7. Since then ive had the intake hand ported and with the Pacemakers running about half a tenth slower ive done a 14.5 street spec. Ive tried a couple of times to better my 14.4 but something seems to always prevent it.

Good stuff Jacob, especially though a 4 speed!

It looks great Jacob, subtle by nice.
I like the way you've experimented with the exhaust. Which setup got you the 14.44?
-
I've done 2 setups with 14.4. First and fastest (14.42) of the 2 were Hurricanes, Venom 100 cell, Lukey custom centre and Redback rear. Second was Hurricanes, Pacrmaker 200 cell and XR8 exhaust with 3" merge. Those weren't street spec though, the 14.42 had the headlight, spare and jack removed with minimal fuel. 14.44 had the same but almost a full tank of fuel and the seats removed. When I changed the extractors, it went from 14.69 full street to 14.74.
Tonight though, with no head light/spare/jack and minimal fuel it went 14.22 with 2.098 60ft and 98.25MPH.
Subtle is definitely how I like it but I've still got a few things brewing on the looks department. I've got a Ghia front lip waiting on a new bumper and I'm also working on a Boss bonnet.

Excellent time and excellent 60', congrats on your pb.

Thanks, it feels like a huge relief to finally beat that 14.42 that was set last Summer. It's never enough though, as even when I did the 14.2 I was sitting on 77.9x MPH half track 6.00x 330ft but its now sub 12s 1000ft at least. I dont know how much more the car has to give before it needs a tune; either because I run out of bolt ons or because the computer keeps pulling power and I can't put it to the ground. The last month or so I've set my sights on doing that as the next major mod so I need to distract myself and get this bonnet and front bar together.
-
Would love to see what it does in street trim. With 4.1s and a tune I think it's definitely in the running for a 13.
-
It dropped from 14.7 to 14.5 when I first fitted the ported manifold a few weeks ago. Since then nothing's changes but I'm going to try it without the Bigmouth again and the new 100 cell cat will go in at some stage.
I found too last Wednesday stalling up on a stock tune seemed to work better holding it at only about 1800rpm and flaring it to 2000rpm just as I was ready to go. Previously I'd just been holding it right at 2000rpm.

So 16th December is the Castle Hill Exhaust and Performance Centre dyno day, so i thought i would bring everyone up to date with how i went at Autotech in May.

It was only supposed to be 2 runs but we were all given 3 runs each. The NA 6 class was only 4 cars - mine and 3 FG's. A stock ute (143.2), a manual sedan with K&N (158.8) and a tune/intake/exhaust sedan (169.2).
At the time IIRC i had Growler with no snorkel, underdrive, both manifold spacers, 82 thermo, territory pipe, hurricanes, 200cell cat, 3inch merge and stock XR8 exhaust. So since then its really just been some dicking around with the snorkels and the 4495's although with a butchered merge pipe to make it fit. I dont think i'm going to get my 100 cell and BF F6 merge to fit by the 16th.

CHE dyno day today. 175.9rwkw. Other than dyno, the extra power came with the 4495's and ported manifold which werent on for Autotech in May when it went 160.8rwkw. Should be an extra kw or so still to get with the 100cell cat and some proper bends making the 4495's fit.

Overall Autotech was still a better experience though.
