Hi all
just heard something through the grape vines that ford might be dropping XR6 Turbo from its range and FPV will be the only to have a turbo 6...
Sorry if I have missed something already but this seems like news to me. Anyone else heard anything?
With no v8 option in the ford range, the xr6t has been adopted as the performance (or pseudo v8) car. G6et is luxo equivalent.
It would be a very drastic and nonsensical move and one I don't think (hope) would happen.
Or, it could indicate a move back to a v8?

Yeah here's hoping its not true, but according to this "source" his friend worked for ford and he was advised that this maybe happening. They also mentioned bringing the 8 back but weren't able to successfully conclude anything. Time will tell I guess.
Doubt it, xr6t and g6et are the hero ford cars now.
Unless they're planning all performance falcons will carry a fpv badge.

It would make sense if they were looking to adopt the V6 to replace the I6 and introduce a N/A V8, but like all speculation lets see what are facts and what is fiction.
Not long ago there were "rumours" that Ford/FPV would be scrapping the F6. Until 2014 Falcon update, we have to wait and see what it brings.
Id be more inclined to believe they will scrap the F6 at the end of FG2 and just continue with the 2 Miami powered models from FU onwards. F6 sales have all but ceased now..Quote:

I think the XR6T/G6ET are much safer than the F6, Ford have a long worn history of deleting models that don't sell. That said i'm hearing that XR6T/G6ET sales are very slow too, although that could be said for Falcon across the board. If the sales mix ratios have remained roughly constant then that would explain it but if the sale mix has swayed away from the Turbo variants it could be a problem.Quote:
