For me, especially on the few black parts I have I will stick to my blower but having said that, there will be times when that won't be possible. I will get some and try it. Lubricating the drying process is something I never did.
All I used to do was glass first which got the microfibre wet for paint.
yes agree.
The product is formulated as such and lets face it there is countless overlap on these products.
Get what you like or suits your needs I suppose.
Once you have tried Afterglow look forward to your findings how it worked, if worthwhile I'll get get one.
Perko, being we have black, even with the blower you do see some areas that leaves water blown lines - mostly the roof/bonnet being such large areas and flat compared to rest of the car.
This is where I'm considering the Afterglow method but I reckon you can use this Boss Gloss sprayed on the big green micro towel as well.
This is my number one frustration within brands.
Overlap and doubling up.
Even hierarchy is hard to determine unless you default to price.
Its incredibly hard at times to know which product is the right one because they are effectively the same or similar but different names.
I also love this quote - paralysis analysis.
Detailing really comes to mind on this.
I used to rely on a few good fellow mates who were farfar more involved in this field but since we have not caught up like we used so I get all over shop with the countless options not just on products but "methods" since.
Its like the health game, one time x amount of meat is great for you next another survey says no etcetcetc....
This game, this method is the ants paints next someone else says no its not.
Brand marketing presents this to sell their product mind you.
Its just so messy drives me nuts.
Even Dans videos mess me up at times and not his alone.
He's doing some things that I reckon does mark the clear coat - and he's also wiping down in all directions, like wtf, whereas others say just go east west or north south which way you suits you but know what I mean.
Here is one case in point.
Now Ian will get why I was asking where was this above post for I started watching this vid (by the way keep em coming Ian thanks) but got interrupted not watching it all at home yesterday arvo but I vivid recall at the start after he washed down the new bimmer he was leaning over the front talking about claying or not. Some good points might I add.
One good point was why do you need buying detailing sprays when you could use the soapy water from the bucket - as I said this was a good point in saving some coin on product BUT did he use the dirty water having washed the car ?! or is it a freshly made brew ? if so I'm wrong.
Like he warns as we know how much grit clay picks up from the paintwork but to grab the sponge from the bucket, sponge the area and squeeze so as more suds are on hand then clay away - like wtf what about the grit particles you just put on the bonnet and clay lol....
Prior to this, compare his snow bomb application to Dans as well.
Knowing Larry it wont be dirty water or soap.
So with the two bucket wash method which he is using the mitt for clay purposes would be no different than if it were a continuation of washing. That mitt he is using looks a lot like a swissvax type deal and if it is it tends to hold a lot of soap.
Just squeezing above the paint will give you the lubrication you need but keep in mind he is using some of his own products here. I would suggest you wouldn't need to make contact with the paint or if you do just light enough to shed soap.
So with Bowden's I would try this with Nano but not the original wash because that to me was always sus on suds.
Like Maurie what I like about Larry the most is he thinks like us. He is sort of like the Bowden's and if you email him he responds.
Key points
Don't clay if you don't need to. One trick you can use is put your hand inside a plastic bag instead of using fingers.
You don't need detailer as a lube.
It is all about touching the paint the least amount of times and for me this has resonated. Don't get me wrong. Whatever works for you works. There is no wrong or right but the more we share perspectives the more choice we have in making up our own minds.
Let you in on another thing I have learnt.
Where I live is very old and the water pipes are corroded. Guess what I suspect was happening when I was washing my cars?
And lastly there is nothing wrong with taking some ideas and modifying them to suit your own requirements.
Lets say that wasn't a fresh bucket of soap. Make a fresh bucket. You could even have a dedicated clay bucket and sponge if you wanted. Its all about thinking it through and evaluating what could go wrong.
