Unfortunately you need another 1.2L of engine capacity Ian.. They do sound godly.... Bit like how Big block Chev's always had a deeper note to small blocks...

Ive always thought the Miami has had a more highly strung engine note than other V8's, i actually don't mind it, its certainly not annoyingly loud in the cabin. Get someone to do a drive by while you stand outside the car mate, the Blower and engine note DO get you attention VERY quickly.. I'm not sure id ever change the stock exhaust.

It's a bit like the old 5.0L Holden EFi though, to me they sounded very deep and throaty, unlike the newer LS1's etc, but a nice strong 5.0L holden sounds good to me.

I cant stand the sound of LSX's... WORST sounding V8 ever... Complete sound Fail.

The AMG is a beautiful, deep breathing engine, that's how. The exhaust ports and header diameter is large and optimised for flow. I have two AMG cats on the WASP at the moment and they are huge. At over $2k a pop each you can't even compare exhaust design and quality to the factory FPV or HSV for that matter unfortunately. How they maintain flow, make a deep note and remain emission compliant is really an art. One of the keys, exhaust wise anyway is creating a large diameter, flow optimised exhaust, but using high quality, heavily packed mufflers to create that meaty, but somewhat understated earth moving soundtrack.

This is something I experimented with on the WASP. In my case I had 2" headers made in a world where 1 - 7/8's was considered big bore for these cars. This was a risk if I didn’t get the engine configuration right. Making duel 3” pipes that are not compromised in diameter from cats to tips was also a painstaking exercise. The get the sound really deep while having unrestricted flow without it becoming unsuitable for street use came down to the AMG cats and custom made mufflers with 5kgs of packing material in each.

You can do all this …or you can just buy an AMG C63..lol. Make no mistake the 335 is one of the best Factory Ford V8 engines in the world. Just don’t lose sight of the fact that we are comparing it to what is widely considered the best factory, naturally aspirated V8 in the entire world. When you look at it that way the asking price for a C63 isn’t all that bad ;)..And the Ford V8 is certainly now punching well and truely above its weight.

Respect! Was near a CLK black here in Newcastle about 2 weeks ago. I've seen it twice now :) Put the window down just to hear that baby burble in the lane next to me. Until a rattly, smoky Corolla who was behind him came level and just drowned the note. I was wishing ill towards that Corolla driver. So, disappointed...

No seriously, that is one beautiful engine. Who doesn't love a naturally aspirated, high reving V8. The trick is to make this kind of grunt from a n/a V8 that is emission compliant. AMG have got close but needed turbos to exceed 600HP.

Adding to what Colville said, the 5.0 is low compression and also down 1.2 litres in volume. Two very big factors that help achieve a great note.

All i can tell you at the moment we are working together developing engine components for the coyote. On a recent trip to the usa we showed the manifold to Ford racing parts and the head of power train was very impressed and wants a manifold. We are also working with other usa major companies developing parts. The engine on the dyno is a basic create engine with CNC ported heads , cams and springs along with the INNOV8 headers and trumpet manifold. I must say that we have done none of the testing and only supplied parts for testing to innov8.They designed and manufactured the intake and headers
It gives both companies a head start on the future of performance for these engines.
It would be nice to see the engine in a V8 supercar but who knows if it will ever happen
The plan is to sell the manifold with a pcm so as the engines can be fitted into a kit car.
INNOV8 supply all the race engines for DJR and last year Mother racing.

Yep.. at some point in the future NASCAR has to adopt DOHC... so i guess a DOHC 5.0l V8 race engine from Ford could be called a "coyote" for marketing purposes even if it shares nothing from the production engine.. much in the same was a V8SC engine is a "Clevor"....

Sounds good, Norm. It makes sense, this could be viewed as an early test/prototype motor to lay the groundwork.
