Friggin great speed !
My business is on the last outposts of the city so obviously were still waiting on NBN that I'm led to believe June on......but running a business/software/MYOB etc here's our speeds checked yesterday for we know they are starting to work on the lines and drop outs occur etcetc :

We have just finalised our business changeover.
I was happy with our phones the way they were, but alas we HAD to change to VOIP.
Internet is more stable than our old ADSL, however I still am not convinced with VOIP - can get a bit of an echo on some calls.
Speeds OK for what we do - 35/10 or thereabouts

I know this thread is as stale as week old donuts, but after what just transpired, I had to re-heat it.
Where we are, NBN rolled out FTTN (despite being told by many that it will suck more than Nickelback AND initially being flagged as FTTP after taking advice on board). So I gave iiNet a call to fire up the service and after about 20 minutes on the phone, I was told that the copper pair between my house and the node had been removed and that no one would be able to provision service. I told them that there is a phone point in the house, the Telstra junction box can be opened and a copper pair disappears into the ground. They kept insisting "no copper". I asked for a tech to be sent out, they said they couldn't as there was no copper. Expletives were launched.
I called Telstra thinking they might have some local techs come out and verify, but alas I got the same story from them, in other words, they couldn't give a toss.
I called Aussie Broadband and told them what's going on. Old mate on the other end just laughed, he said I just done a trace test and your pair is 1130m from the node (despite a much shorter and more direct path of 350m for the house next door). I signed up with them and he then said that he'll get NBN to re-route the copper via the same path as next door. It never happened, NBN threw the work order back at ABB and told them to pound sand. So after that episode, I asked what sort of service can I expect at that distance. Old mate said you'd be lucky to hit 55 down, 21 up. I said that should be okay, lets do this. On install day, old mate came out and moved the copper pair from the old Telstra cabinet to the NBN node, did a quick check back at the house and he was done. I hooked up my VDSL modem and boom, 53.5Mbit down... but 0.2Mbit up. I called up the tech that was there and asked him if any line filters were still hanging off the copper from the Telstra cabinet, sure enough there was one still attached somehow and he removed it. The speed up improved to 8Mbit, way short of the 20 it was theoretically capable of. He said the copper line must be crusty but NBN won't authorise a repair because it meets the 25/5 minimum spec.
Fast forward some years and two days ago, the up dropped to 1Mbit. I called ABB and logged a fault. They said someone would be out there to check it out on Tuesday (today). The tech rocked up at 9am as promised and did a diagnostic and verified the fault. He left the house to check the node end and came back a few minutes later. He said that the cabinet end was fine and that the copper must have deteriorated from all the rain we've had recently. He said NBN would have to run a fresh line to resolve this. I asked if it would be possible to route the cable east (350m path) instead of west (the current 1130m path) and he said they might but they're flaky. I asked how are the lines across the road routed to the node, to which he replied with...
"Oh they've been upgrade to fibre to the premises"
