Harsh.
There cars are like Toyotas but better built. Their service is crazily good. To me the thing holding them back is they are actually pretty awful to look at. Dowdy and heavy and soft all at the same time. Sure they have moved away from bland-town, now they need to move back.
Lexus is maturing very well imo.
Yes their front end design is weird but they are fine tuning as the years go by, the mentioned RCF etc are frigging nice looking and a quality product, imo better than bimmer/mb/audi - they need to find a soul to appease to types like us more.
I'd have a RCF no bloody worries, yes I'm bald, I play golf, I love red wine but I don't go to bed early but have interest in cars so, I'm there lol......
As for Hyundai, they keep giving and winning imo, the G8 isn't for me but alot of HC companies will be picking it up for starters I expect.
IF they can work the trail led by Toy how Lexus evolved it will grow.
I've looked online, but I can't find this great article I read years ago. It alluded to the fact that Toyota aren't scared of the Chinese. Bring it on is their Mantra. Toyota are terrified of Hyundai/Kia. Look at where they were 20 years ago. Selling Hyundai Excels and Kia Rios by the shipload, for basically nothing, with a killer warranty. Sure, their mechanicals stared life in a Mitsubishi somewhere, but they were reliable, if poorly built. Today, they have leapfrogged Ford, Holden, and are competing with Mazda and Mitsubishi in the top 5 car manufacturers in Australia, with extremely well built, fairly nice to drive cars. I looked at an Optima before buying the Passat. Just think if they can bring to market a Ute, and a proper rugged Landcruiser Rival...
I've been around Lexii... The IS200 when it was first released was special. I loved the chronograph dash they had in them. They have moved away from that to an interesting mishmash of awful designs, awful interiors, impeccable build quality, and a drive only a Texan with haemorrhoids would enjoy. Their in your face styling is a shame because the IS and GS cars have the potential to be a great drivers car, but they have sort of been left behind by BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
oh yer that is for sure, the jap korean incl china warfare is huge !
On all fronts and goes way way back.
Who wants to be No1 in that region is massive - Toy have it obviously for now but the Hyun/KIA organisation is climbing fast/er now that they have stamped the ground and won their share.
Correct if they get into the dual cab market then Toy will really be looking over their shoulders with much dislike.
The is300 is pretty conservative to me, the old man has a 2016.
Yer it mightn't be great interior for some but after having been through countless bimmers/mb's in the terms of day to day driving as those type of people do, you know just a means of nice transport the Lexus experience just kills what he has gone through over the years with the other euros.
They should be selling more imo but its their range, lack of, the other euros have today.
Thats a fair reason why the usual euro brands leave them behind.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like the Genesis and its replacement the G80 (same car new badge lol), but I think the pricing is wrong for Australian market, drop $20K of it and it makes more sense, Hyundai isn't an upmarket brand that can compete with BMW or Mercedes entry level products.
Its going to be relegated to being VHA/VHB cars doing runs from Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport.
I quoted the HC industry and limo service's will jump on them, did already on the previous model.
Fine to me, sales is sales.
Lets not forget before it was Fairlane/LTD and till the end Statesmen/Caprice for these same business's.
Having been in many silver service cars talking to drivers they can't stand using Q7's/7Series etcetc due to the running costs.
Hyun/KIA can hang in there if sales don't get into the private sector, they can afford it.
yes i would love to see thier stuff on cd. I dont have a record player to buy vinyls but i have alot of mp3 on my coputer and i love uk decay its wierd that they dont have anything on cd because people love uk decay.
