I can't, like you see how a single day cam stop sadness. Is it the optic of people having a good time, is it that people have a public holiday.
Remove it. These people want another date. I wouldn't give them that.
They can be responsible for the end of celebrating the 26th but they don't get another date.
If you're going to be upset by history we can't change no date will suffice or reduce that pain.
I would put it back on them.
Let's see how many protests there are when a public holiday is removed.
Let's see the conviction then when it impacts these white activists trying to make this racial.
The acts, like all acts of land acquisition aren't based on colour. Youre in our road, we are stronger, you lose.
I strongly suspect no matter what day of Australia day we have, it wouldn't be good enough. A protest of change would have been mounted and momentum garnered. If it had been April may June July or august there will still be a backlash because those with a voice were not part in determining the change.
They can now. Zero. Youre not getting a date change. The country can forever be reminded that we are prisoners of our past incapable of acknowledging a day but realising what we do now, how we treat the living is what counts.
Its like going to church on Sunday to ask for forgiveness then robbing people blind the next 6 days.
Which of those protesting has done one direct act of kindness to xhange bthe life of an indigenous family?
We are not one. We are young and will stay that way while children run the asylum.
I reserve the right to alter my opinion if there is proof sadness and depreciation of those of who genuinely count in this is confined to a single day.
