Very exciting to hear this news. Hopefully, we'll see them come to Australia.

I'd love to have one old, one new. Hopefully, it's not a manual-only car.

Seeing that it has the 2020 front bar fitted I'd imagine they had an RHD version in mind. This may be 'affordable' and accessible version of the GT350-GT500

    Well typical isn't it......
    Plucked this from elsewhere

There’s good news and bad news from Ford.

The good news is the blue oval is reviving one of its most famous Mustang nameplates – Mach 1 – for a new high-performance variant of the coupe. The bad news is, it looks like it won’t be coming to Australia.

Instead Ford Australia will stick with the locally-produced, but limited edition, Herrod Performance Mustang R-Spec as the performance hero of the range.

So what exactly are we missing out on? Ford hasn’t given specific details of the new Mach 1, only releasing a single teaser image, but did promise it will be “the most track-ready 5.0-litre Mustang ever” when it does go on sale.

The Mach 1 was first introduced in 1968 as a performance upgrade package for the ‘69 model and continued until 1978. Then, as now, the Mach 1 will sit at the top of the regular Mustang range, bridging the gap to the hardcore Shelby GT350 and GT500 models.

“Mach 1 has a special place in Mustang history, and it’s time for this special edition to claim the top spot in our 5.0-litre V8 performance lineup and reward our most hardcore Mustang enthusiasts who demand that next level of power, precision and collectability,” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Icons. “Like the original, the all-new Mustang Mach 1 will be true to its heritage, delivering great looks and as the most track-capable 5.0-litre Mustang ever.”

So expect a more powerful V8 engine tune, upgrades suspension and brakes and unique styling cues when the Mach 1 breaks cover later this year.

That's a same if true. I saw this working a bit like the Bullit.
More performance than the GT, but not outright R-Spec levels.
Pitched around $10k more than the GT, but well short of the $100k+ asked for the R-Spec.

I love the R-Spec would like to see abit more visual differentiation from the GT model and an auto option. That's where the Mach 1 sounded like an exciting edition.

I'm more optimistic of Mach 1 than you guys.

Comments about it being a far more focused track pack Model than GT, sitting below GT350.

Also Pics from the spy shots show front tyres are 305/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2's, that's a hell of a lot of tyre.

If people cast their minds back we discussed PP2 option as a serious upgrade over GT.

    Here's PP2 spec for Reference:

Included in GT Performance Package - Level 2:

    19-inch x 10.5-inch (F) / 19-inch x 11-inch (R) Dark Tarnish Stainless-painted Aluminum Wheels

305/30/R19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Tires

Brembo™ Six Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors

    “Engine Spun” Aluminum Instrument Panel

Gauge Pack (Vacuum and Oil Pressure)

    High Performance Front Splitter

    K-Brace

    Large Radiator

MagneRide Damping System with Track Inspired Calibration

    Strut Tower Brace

TORSEN Differential with 3.73 Axle Ratio

    Unique Rear Spoiler

Unique Track-inspired Chassis, Stability Control, EPAS, and ABS Tuning

Unique Track-inspired Springs and Sway Bar
    Look Familiar?

I'd say the US have had "Mach 1" for 2 years and didnt even know it.....

PP2's performance was pretty close to GT350 as it was, it carries the same wheel/tyre package for starters..
