The stranding confused me too, but the doc wasn't much help, she was basically just relaying info from the surgeon who was checking my test results.
My post op check isn't until the end of February so I guess il find out then.

All this health/diet/fitness talk makes me think we need a dedicated thread, I reckon there's plenty of good info hiding in here.

You guys doing a predominantly plant based diet, how did you get onto that? Just decided one day to go that way or something else? I'm a meat lover, always have been but I know it's not doing me any favours.
OK thats cool, I'll find out before you re post op check, I've been told one month since op, so I just booked that yesterday for Jan 21......but now I need to call back re schedule and check if its ok to fly need to get back to China that week.
Funny you quote they think you have over done it, I too am worried IF I have as well.
You know what I did 3days after ?! mowed the lawns lol......and did them again last weekend amongst other light duty jobs.
    I can't just do nothing !
    We shall see.

Re diets etc, I'm a firm believer that anything in moderation won't push you over the edge.
Yes Gal cholesterol is hereditary I've been told but I would expect there are case's not related.
So I do watch how much I consmue re dairy type products, love consuming camembert cheese and crackers lol.....and other cheese's/olives/a typical italian antipasta.
I find it interesting that you have both sides of the coin, there are those that are fitness/health fanatics that die young un unexpectedly and visa versa/vegans same but damn they look sic unhealthy to me.
Interestingly having ol wog blood, did you know the island of Sardinia has highest living per capita of centurions.
I have watched my relos here and abroad consume pasta weekly/salami's/hams/prosciutto/meat meat/chicken/pork/with tons of salads with much olive oil/vinegar/vegs/bread galore washed down with copious amounts of vino white or reds/deserts/so many espresso's people would think red bull is nothing ! and they are living into their 90's.
Baffles me compared to what we understand more today but as I said, I take it all in moderation and love it but its also what your genes are in the first place.
    My metabolism is pretty good.
I have never weighed over 80k, my waist has never been over 32/33 - I'm a social drinker/have played heaps of football since 5yrs/had football training 3 nights a week for years/had a fetish for gym workouts through my 20's/30's then stopped/surfed for years/got into the lycra fad for a while dropped it a few years ago/love being active.
We are polar opposites Colville and I'm sure you won't be offended and visa versa.
Right now I am seeing my father inlaw slowly pass away @ 90 good yrs.

Yes mate, my eyes are more widely opened these day's to any advice/info as really at the end of the day no one knows the real effect that certain foods in general has on our insides, sure there are test/studies done but unless you have full faith in the way those test were carried out, then it's all just that a test.

We all react differently when health/ foods are concerned, even different cultures, as you have mentioned and I do concur with you as I remember reading how Greek's/Italian's are one of the healthiest and live the oldest in certain areas and in this one study they put it down to their meat consumption??, go figure.

I also remember seeing a small snippet that Dr Michael Mosley did once on a very similar thing, not that I follow him or believe in his wisdom but I did happen to see the segment and well the people that were shown were very old (90's) and looked a lot healthier then someone from our shores of similar age/still very independent.

I am also from an Italian background, my mothers parent's migrated here from Italy.

I used to be a size 38 at my largest, I then as the weight dropped off bought new clothes, thinking I wouldn't need to go any lower, now my size 32's fall of my waist and shit me to no ends, I have one pair of size 30 shorts and I live in them because they are the only ones that fit nicely, although I put them on this week and realised that even they are loose and will become like the others if I loose anymore around the waistline.

It's costing me too much in clothes ,lol.

D, how are things going now with the hernia ?

I've forwarded my post check for this Friday for back on the work horse and I've already booked my China return flights for next Monday But I thought I better get this checked and approved before I jump on the big bird in case 45000' may cause me an issue.
I'll be asking about the "stranding".
I've still been pretty active I guess, mowing lawns, doing this doing that but avoiding any lifting that would cause pressure.
I'm feeling good down there but when sitting I do feel some pain right side of my groin, not sure if this is related but I'll ask of this as well, overall I'm not where I'd like to be for I'm impatient.
Double whammy having had that ACL op late Aug, followed by this I'm feeling unfit.
No running about for 4mths to date - hernia sets me back more, need to get back to my physio see where my knee is at before I can do anything more.
My chicken legs especially my right operated one has lost alot of my muscle mass.
I'm getting back on the spin cycle at home, started lifting some light dumb bells for the heck.

Yeah I’m good. Just get the odd niggle, but I’ve actually started weight training. Just avoiding anything heavy (which isn’t hard given how unfit I’ve become) or too strenuous. More to try and get that habit of going to the gym going again.

Man I couldn't go back to a gym, I'm setting up at home, open air gym lol......
I'd hate to test myself for a run when I finally can, I feel I'm at 50% to where I was before last August.

If you have the equipment and you can be disciplined enough to use a home gym regularly as part of an ongoing routine then that is a great option. Some (most) people find that in the initial stages, in particular, paying to go to a gym and having someone like a personal trainer hold them to account is the better way to start a healthy habit forming. Personally I found having to go and converse with other people quite off putting. I would go in the early hours when there was practically no one there.

What I like about having a home gym is I don't waste time in transit, or having to talk to people or wait for equipment. I can go in for 15 minutes or 2 hours and at any time on a whim. The downside is I need to use YouTube trainers to educate, motivate and push myself. I dont always have the right equipment and have to improvise. I also have no one to spot me if the weight gets too heavy or I get tired, or anyone hold me to account if I slack off.

You weight it all up depending on your level of discipline and ability to self motivate. I've had both outdoor and indoor gym sets since I was a teenager. I have joined many gyms in between. It took me years to get to a point where a home gym worked consistently well. Now I couldnt imagine living in a house without one.

I started assembling a home gym but then I decided I made our garage the size it is so I had room to work on cars lol. Home gym can wait until shed build.

I can honestly say if i had a home gym, that was equipped like a regular gym id happily train at home, in fact probably train more frequently.

Like you im becoming more time poor, travel time is time less to train.

Some like the social aspects of a commercial gym, but i just like to get there, be left alone and get shit done.

I could happily do that in a decent home gym.

I calculated id need about 50m2 and about 15k for equipment though lol.
