My mate found the original motor for his Phase 3 in Bernie last year after an extraordinary set of events.

His car was owned by a Drag racer in NSW who blew the original engine up and replaced it in the late 70's.

Somehow that engine got sleeved and fitted to an XW GT and passed through a number of hands till it ended up owned by an old guy in Tassie.

The guy hated that engine as it was too wild so removed it recently and got talking to another GTHO guru in Tassie named Ellis French, Ellis looked up the Vin off the block and discovered it was for a Vermilion fire GTHO with black vinyl roof who my mate owned, ibso facto Elllis contacted Chris last sept about the find and he flew across and bought it back!!!

Its got the X number on it too.

Our cars together, spot the Phase 3!:

vinyl roofs were very 70's, glad they went

yeah amazing that those letters HO phase III cost $350,000.00

(Reason I guessed that was the HO, I knew you owned one, and I saw you more of Slot Wheel man, than a Globe Wheel man)

Believe it or not All phase 3's had the 5 slot wheels from the factory.

The Globes were supplied to 200 customers in 1972 to allow homologation of them on the racecars.

I wanted to fit Globes to my car but ran out of $...

I was going to say the one with the vinyl roof, the one closest to the camera has its shaker sticking up too much

I fitted an Edelbrock Torker manifold on my car.

The Shaker on a HO sits about 1/2 an inch higher than a std one too due to the phenolic spacer under the carb.

I figured it had a performance manifold on it, you wouldn't do that to a HO (or maybe you would?)

Very nice looking rig though. And that's the one without the vinyl roof...
