AU tyre sizes ??
Howdy,
Can i run a 245/40/18 front and a 265/35/18 rear on my T3?
I have checked the tyre calculators and it says that they will have a 10mm rolling diamater difference. Is this enough to cause abs issues? The T3 doesnt have traction control so i dont have to worry about that.

I think Tims has the mixed offset rims on it? Why the 35 section on the rear?

but they are the same size rims
Tim is looking at 265/35 to get more tyre on the road
wear wont be a issue, the T3 doesnt do enough kms to wear them out

I know it is a different car but on my BAII GT I ran those sizes. I never noticed any issues with the ABS (yes I did achieve some ABS activations), the TC hated it but you will not have this issue.
My biggest complaint was you could visibly notice the size difference, particularly when the rear tyres wear a bit.
I considered going up to 275 on the rear to bring the rolling diameter closer front to rear but we ended up selling the car before this was done.

Thanks Guys, to give you a bit more info, the TS did around 2000 k's last year and thats including a trip to vic for the FPV day. The front Dunlop SP9000 are still like new and are relatively soft, so i dont really want to pull them off and throw them away. The rears howeverdue to my heavy foot and excitement the rear tyres are on the wear indicators. I cant find any Sp9000 in a 245/40/18 and i dont really want to run 2 different types of tyres. I have however found some 255/35/18 and 265/35/18 that were DEC 09 made. (still brand new wrapped in the dunlop foil) I was thinking about getting the 265 and putting on the rear so that i have a matched set of tread pattern.
Here is the tyre calc that i did on the web. Going on this when the speedo reads 100km/h with the 265/35/18 it will now read 98.6km/h which isnt a bad thing. It also states that a 265 tyre is rated to fit on a 8" to 10" rim.
Lynton, im assuming that you mean you could tell the rears were wider than the front when they wore out a bit? or are you talking about the sidewall profile?
I don't think the 10mm overall dia will cause any issues with abs. Tyres will lose more diameter than that from new to old.
I might just get them and try it out.
I was referring to you could see the difference in outside diameter, 10 mm is noticeable and because the rears wear faster than the front, it gets more noticeable as they get older. Up to you if you can put up with it but it used to trouble me a bit. On a B series with TC it made the the TC too sensitive and even accelerating out of a corner in the dry used to activate TC with no wheel spin at all.

Thanks Lynton, My fronts have done 10k since installed and are around 75% tread left, i would guess that with the new 265 rears they would be worn out at around the same time.
