Well taking it away from the original design - billets nice depending on design.

TS50/Sprint 8 and daily anti aussie Macan GTS
"Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Abraham Lincoln"
I would add that depending on the light conditions, not even seeing them in the flesh is conclusive.
I saw the cars that came to Tassie and to be honest left more confused before.
Victory Gold. Every time I have seen this colour in the flesh it has impressed me. It was at the filming of the FGX then many months later on a ute at the dealership.
Then in pictures it has done nothing for me at all.
Come sprint and of all the cars present, it just stood out more but it was also shown more too. It has by far the greater number of press shots and if you collect them all there are a reasonable number that make you go wow.
It had the impact on me in person too.
Next would be kinetic. There are some great shots of it on track but unlike the gold in a lot of cases the black roof is hard to pick.
Next was the White turbo in both the flesh and in the photos. It just worked and in all conditions.
Xr8s in white never made the trip so for me this is where you need to look at cars around you to see what some have done.
Aero I liked a lot. Probably the biggest surprise in the flesh but I probably wouldn't buy that colour.
Smoke. It is a very light sensitive colour if you plan to take pictures of it. It's not what I consider to be photo friendly. If you own a smoke car you will learn a lot about photo composure pretty quickly. It is the classiest colour on offer IMO.
Black, I wouldn't consider it. I just think that in terms of design the use of black highlights is a signature. I would want that to be seen.
My issue with the XR8 is that kinetic surprised me in how much the black roof didn't stand out. In fact even the sprint badge on the back being black was hard to read in some conditions. Same went for smoke.
I personally think the choice on colour comes back to how much you want these signature features to stand out.
White and Gold achieve that.
Both probably have an unfair stigma attached.
Gold, tiger micra or Hackett Gold
White, a cheat or cop out colour. When in doubt pick white.
I think both are legitimate choices here, perhaps even stand out choices.
Then you have the hero concept. It's a consideration if you are looking for guidance or perhaps a deeper attachment along the lines of designer choice.
i can see why some are agonising over it. You want to get it right but I think whatever you end up doing, once the choice is made you won't regret it.

Top reply Ian.....almost pulling thoughts from my head. Add to that, you don't want it to look like everybody else'sI reckon they're selling a helluva lot of white 6's...
But you have it here:
"I personally think the choice on colour comes back to how much you want these signature features to stand out."
If only Emperor was a option like the mule...id love to layer some wax on that colour and it'd be my first choice in a regular XR8 (as it would've Sprint). I've had a think for that style of colour since my EL XR which was absolute magic in the sun. Ian's suggestions have me looking harder at the gold...never warmed to it but I'm starting to 'get it'. Can't say there isn't opportunity to tour some yards this weekend and at least soak up each of the colours in similar XR's. Best substitute I can think of![]()
