    Chrysler to join V8SC?

    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/mo...-1226254353651

Personally i cant see it working, they are at best a "bit" automotive player here, they have SFA presence in Australia, so it would have to be funded out of Detroit.

It would be a bold move that surely could only be aimed at somehow creating a sudden massive demand for the product range as opposed to supporting brand image for an established player. but i cant see them taking that risk in the current climate.

What's your thoughts? its not as if somehow they will bring anything different to the series in the way of technology beyond an extra badge to cheer for.

COTF rules wont allow for any technical advantage.

There was a time not to long ago that I loved to sit down and watch a race of V8 Supercar's, I still enjoy watching a good race and following the series but I have somewhat become a little unfamilar with it all now as it has become more of a driver promotion to me then a team/brand sport.
Personally if another manufacturer does decide to grace us in the sport then I will be watching with a vested interests to see just how the sport can evolve and move forward.
Aslong as Ford can continue on with it's good allround performance as I believe they have done over the yr's I will be happy.

haha good on Garry - one team owner I admire even from the darkside.

Back to Norms original Q re Chrysler coming in ? we went through Grp A - to date the current diluting of our racing by Cockrane - next not a 2make series - heck it shouldn't have been a 2make only series in the first place imo but sadly now due to the financial global bubble bursting there is no turning back now to make participation more affordable for entrants hence at the same time a controlled model ala nascar etc......
I have no worries having others brands come into the "show" I'm concerned what the future brings for as much as I like watching nascar and been to a few races over there we are losing our "roots" whereas nascar only lost its privateers but still racing the same tracks etc all they did was make it more professional with parity and thats typical yanks imo everything is fabricated for a show, we weren't brought up this way.
OK my kids don't relate what I'm talking about here so its just dribble but in time I'll follow AMC more (infact already have been the last 2yrs) but will keep watching the V8's I can't not keep away from the sound/smell be it from the corporate box LOL.....

My local radio station may have jumped the gun
here is a quote from Ten sport

    http://tensport.com.au/news/newsarti...r-interest.htm

    Quote:

Chrysler could be joining Holden and Ford on the 2013 V8 Supercar grid after team boss Garry Rogers confirmed he's in talks with the American manufacturer.

Rogers, who currently runs two Holden Commodores in the championship through his Fujitsu Racing outfit, says he's negotiating with Chrysler to race its new 300c sedan from next year.

"We have had discussions with Chrysler," Rogers told the V8X Magazine website.

"Are they going anywhere? I'd like to think they are.

"They seem to have done their homework on the category and us and their knowledge is good.

"We have had another discussion in the last week and that was quite productive.

"We haven't got anything up yet but I am hoping we can."

The news comes after an earlier report this month revealing Chrysler's interest in the championship.

The president and chief executive of Chrysler's street and race technology (SRT) arm Ralph Gilles said at the Detroit Auto Show that the V8 Supercars events are on the company's radar ahead of the next generation 300c's launch in Australia in June.

Rogers has run Holden cars since debuting in the championship in 1996 but could be the first of several team owners to court new manufacturers ahead of V8's new 'Car of the Future' technical regulations, which come into force in 2013.

The championship hopes those regulations will entice new manufacturers to the category, potentially injecting new revenue streams to teams and offering a more competitive field.

Rogers is also set to reveal who will replace Lee Holdsworth to partner Michael Caruso at the team in 2012, confirming the new pilot will be named at a function on February 10.

Holdsworth left the team at the end of 2011 to replace Alex Davison in the Stone Brothers Racing Irwin Tools Falcon for the next three years.

Sorry if I misled anyone, should know not to rely on the media

My understanding is the pie stays the same size i.e still 28 REC's. Im not convinced GRMS will go to Chrysler, im also not convince Chrysler will enter ether.. Gary is a shrewd player, flirting with another manufacturer to get more attention from Holden.

Apparently the projected spend needed to get a suitable aero package for the 300C would have funded a small country for 2 years....
