All the cool kids seem to be chasing $1000+ regardless of condition. I have seen one as cheap as $600 but I think that was for a box that was unsuitable for use unless rebuilt.

Plus you have the shifter you'd be wanting from $400 for that too.

As I am finding with toploaders the three most expensive things for a conversion: gearbox, shifter, manual pedal box. Those three things alone can push the budget out to roughly $2K.

    Playing devils advocate here mate...

Are you too far into this car now to pull the pin and ping it to recover your money, then go buy a manual car in completed condition with the extra you'd have spent fixing it and converting it?

I'll respond in my build thread so we don't derail this one.

This one I have found, is according to the seller in working condition, with bell housing, clutch fork, all linkages and shifter (which looks like a XA/B type).
They are asking $1500 for it though.

$1500 for all that, I'd buy it. Provided the gearbox is in fact in good (internal) condition with no crunchies etc. The figures I quoted were just for the gearbox and shifter in isolation, based on my observations.

The condition is unknown, I am only going of what the seller has told me, and they claim that it is in working condition, I am going to go and have a look but what should I look for to check for it’s worthiness as it is not in a car.
