Sorry if I can't be any further help but these days I tend to drop the car off at the mechanic and when I pick it up he gives me a very broad overview of what he did.
You don't need to put a heap on. You basically using it as a thread sealant. Just lightly smear the bolt thread.
Keep in mind though as these AU engines get up in the Ks they can form a lot of oil leaks particularly aroung the timing case area.
