    Exclamation Eaton Truetrac Differentials

    Hey guys,

I currently own a 2005 Ford Falcon BA MKII XR6 Ute.
It has a the factory standard 3.46:1 2 Pinion LSD final drive in it.
Now i have a few mates who own the same car but have had many problems with their final drives, usually the pinions breaking, etc. Anyways, they have all upgraded them to 4 pinion but even still, they keep breaking. A week ago, my ute did the same thing, broke the pinions in the carrier. So ive had a look on the net and spoken to a few people and they have all said the same thing...put a Eaton Truetrac differential in. So i guess i just wanted to ask if any other people have got them or have used them before and would be able to give me a little bit of info of where i can buy them from, etc. I know they have to be modified slightly to fit but ive got that covered. So if any of you have done this or know of someone who has done this, could you please tell me where i would find one??

    Cheers,

    Dave

I don't know much about them I haven't needed a stronger diff in my ute , I think harrop put the Eaton diff in there own housing , more expensive , but from what I have read they are stronger , give harrop a call they should be able to point you in the right direction .

There is something amiss if you have broken your diff with a stock XR6. Wouldn't have anything to do with running circle work would it? Usually when one come across broken diffs or axles it is due to driver abuse.
Australian Muscle Car ... "It is a sensational high performance vehicle; a beautifully engineered and immensely capable four door Grand Tourer or 'GT' in the truest sense of that tradition."

No prize for guessing what car they were referring to ... OWN THE ROAD ...

My fathers BA one tonne steel tray ute done 3 diff centres under warranty and 2 since, now just runs a open centre without issue, NO abuse (circle work) or overloading. He is a tradie that works country South Aus. BA now has 300 plus and besides a throttle body engine never been touched, tranny let go as it dropped a tranny cooler line :-(

Harrop and eaton trutrac centres are not the same. Harrop are stronger, they use billet material, they are locally manufactured the extra strength and place of manufacture is reflected in the cost. A new Harrop trutrac is in the order of 1500 - 1700 depending where you buy it, an eaton trutrac can be got for half that.

There is absolutely no comparison to be made between a stock LSD limited slipper and a Harrop trutrac, chalk and cheese. The Harrop trutrac can take an absolute beating but keeps tire burn even, ......... even on steering wheel lock, and in a straightline rears leave mirror image black. I swear by my Harrop, predictable, and after 40000km has been bullet proof.

If youre breaking pinions and crown wheels, aan LSD will not fix that. That's incredible that the tonner has been through 5 diff pinions. I've never heard such a thing, even taking into account it's only the 6 cylinder differential.

Is it worthwhile undertaking a V8 Dana conversion?

BIG power / BIG torque cars don't mince diffs as readily as the tonner or your mates, so maybe an inherently stronger case, pinion, crown wheel is the answe?

    Good luck.

    Tex
