Thought I would add a thread on the Ford Rangers that my business will be running. I have chosen the Ranger for a number of reasons.

• NCAP rating
• Towing capacity
• Fuel economy
• Standard features
• Because I love my Fords

I am also hoping that it's popularity will mean good resale value later down the track. The Ranger has a number of additions that are required for our line of work. In the beginning I was hoping to get two Rangers, but a rethink by the bank has allowed for only one. So I have purchased one for my employee. I still have a SR5 dual cab so it's not as if I am driving a bomb! All going to plan I will be getting a XLT dual cab at the end of the year.



I thought I would post pictures of our Rangers working just as something different. Can't wait till the end of the year for mine!!

When comparing the XLT dual cab with the SR5 there are a number of things that stand out about the Ranger

• More space inside and the cabin is better presented
• Both manual and auto transmissions are far better units
• Better fuel economy
• More comfortable to be in
• Ride quality better
• More room in the tray
• Better towing capacity
• More power
• That lovely Blue Oval at the front

The resale value on the Toyota is a plus and they are easier to get than the Ranger at the moment. I have been very happy with how the SR5 has performed but it is clear that it is a generation behind the Ranger. So at the end of the year I will definitely be investing in a dual cab.

Part of my new role has meant I have come across another Ranger. Not what I had expected. A 2.2L Highrider XL auto. Somewhat different from the 3.2L Manual 4x4 that I had requested. After the expected ranting I have had a chance to get acquainted with "Stormie". For an A to B car it does do the job quite well. Comfortable and engine power is acceptable. The auto is fine, being smooth and willing once you find the best power range for the engine. If towing the Ranger does show its lack of capacity and power. It strains but does the job. The interior is an improvement on the PX1. Sync makes for a pleasant place to be. So much in fact that I purchased a new Ranger for work, I would grab the XL over the XLS or XLT.

Me being me, I have made a few mods to Stormie. Picked up a set of XLS rims for $160 and fog lights for $40. So I put them on during the week.



Couldn't help but add Stormtrooper Bobblehead to finish off the package.

Nice, I had a 2.2 as a work ute for a while but it was crippled with a Giant service body stuck to the back of it. Still went well for what it was and what was stuck to it.

How did the motor hold up? My concerns for this is the longevity of the motor given the towing that I do.

I took it from 12,000kms to just under 75,000kms in the space of 12 months, it only ever had the logbook services which were usually late getting done and never skipped a beat. And I was admittedly pretty bloody nasty to it.
