Those personal touchs on the XR8, plenty.
Can you explain your plate ? and the good ol martian.
Talk about a Start Wars museum ! Darth Vadar alright.

Just trying to finish off the XR8 without making it look modded. Things like the LED changes and coil covers are things that could have been done at factory if budgets were larger. Just things that finish off the appearance. The last for me will be the brakes. I am very keen on getting them done black.

The plate is an old one in remembrance of my first border collie, Dog. Got him when I was younger and stuck with me through thick and thin. Picture of him below when I was working on the XF. Some bastard decided to bait him on Christmas eve in 1997 so I got the plates in honour of a great friend. The current black plates are to match my Silhouette XR8. I happen to like Marvin the Martian so it was an easy choice. Dept of Transport let me keep the original plates so they will go on Mr Pool when I have finished getting the EB back in shape.



As far as the Star Wars museum is concerned I will post a picture of my office. It is far better than the shed.

Gave Vader a wash today Norm. So took some more shots just for you.

So over Christmas had a few small tasks I wanted to try. The first I have been chasing a genuine tissue box for ages. Finally found one and grabbed it with glee.



Then there has been a project that I have been sitting on the fence for months. I personally liked the XR badge that went on the doors of the FG. However with the FGX this was dropped. Others have used boot badges but these are the wrong size and type. So for me this was never an option. Ford has the XR50 badge but no “8” that would match it. Finally found that the HSV R8 badge is the same font but about 3mm too small overall. Bummer.

Come in my new friend, the 3D printer. Local guy was able to scan the badge replicate and enlarge. Took a couple of goes to get the thickness right. Here is a picture of the badge versus boot badge. As you can see there is a big difference.



Painted and cleared the printed badge and was very happy with the result.






I wasn’t sure when I first put it on. Still not 100% convinced. One thing I think it does do well is break up the black and highlight the wheel and Brembos. So for now it will stay. That is all for the exterior for Vader. As I always wanted, understated and with a few things that I though should have not been changed.

Looks good Glenn. I would take a picture and set up a pre-order arrangement on EBay and Gumtree. See how many orders you get. If there is enough to make it variable / profitable then you may have a little niche market there for other FGX Falcons, both XR 6 and 8.

I did think about this when I first got it made. Just wasn't sure how many people would want to grab them. Most people seem to have gotten the boot badge and used that. Just wasn't the right thing or the right look for me. If anyone here wants one happy to get one made up.
