    Paint correction

Attempting to teach myself paint correction.

To say this process has been not very enjoyable is an understatement.

    Still to have wax applied

Not a very good photo- sorry

HSE2, you got me curious now!
How do you maintain those pillar trims?
That plastic on my XR6T is getting pale, and what's worse - uneven spots of pale smooth plastic that I have no idea what to do about.
What are you doing with it?

I am using a lot of bad language in the main.

I have been told there is little uv protection in that plastic so I think they will go pale or discolour no matter what you do.

I never realised these trims could be polished until I saw it on YouTube.

So armed with a random orbital buffer I gave these trims a try and yes they can be made better.

That said what came off the trims really clogged the pad up so I don't know how these will stand up now. I am not completely sure what I have removed.

What's gone back on them is wax with a very high carnauba rating. It was put on with my fingers because I didn't trust microfibre. It was removed with the equivalent of a feather duster and now I never plan to touch them again.

I haven't looked into new ones yet, suspect they would be damaged anyway, but the others solution would be a wrap.

A gloss black vinyl might be the best solution.

    They are just a nightmare.

    Yes that's right!
In this day and age you would think that they should make better quality plastics..

yep these pillar plastics are so easily marked up (spider web effect) just from washing your pride.
The Sprint for me are woeful already - to the laymen they wouldn't give a toss.
    Good work Ian.
I'm dying to find the time working on my correction methods and such as these pillars.
Spring is int he air and daylight saving is approaching thankfully but I may just end up getting lazy and buy new pillars one day lol......
Your point on "wrapping them" is another good approach for that is easy as OR even get that clear coating over them as I have done on the front and other sections.
Whilst on that point having just re done the front bar with clear coating I also got done under door handle scallops done to avoid those nail marks people make when opening the doors - god knows why they have to put their hands in that deep marking in their but now I've avoided that occurring
