    I can't wait to see this car this year!!!

    Taken from the Supaloc Racing Website;

    "In its original incarnation, the Ford GT (or GT40 – the name signified the car’s height of 40 inches) was a highly successful, purpose-built racing machine. It won the hallowed Le Mans 24 Hour in the four years from 1966 to 1969, in the hands of legend drivers such as Denny Hulme.

    Fast forward to 2002, and Ford revived the GT phenomenon with a concept car at the Detroit motor show. The car’s amazing styling generated global interest and the car went into production in 2005, with Swiss outfit Matech Concepts producing a racing version of the car to compete in the FIA GT3 European Championship.

    The GT3-spec version of the Ford GT combines traditional styling and a rich racing heritage with the latest technology and racing developments. Australia’s strong complement of Ford supporters will now have a team to cheer for in the Australian GT Championship, as they watch the spectacular GT battle against exotic machinery from the likes of Mercedes Benz, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari.

    The Supaloc Racing Ford GT will make its first public appearance at today’s Clipsal 500 launch at Adelaide Oval. The sophisticated and distinctive Supaloc Racing livery has been combined with the classic, low-slung lines of the GT to produce a mouth-watering piece of automotive artwork.

    This will be the only Ford GT competing in the 2012 Australian GT Championship, and it is in fact the last example that has been produced.

    The Ford GT is powered by a thundering 5.3 Litre V8 engine (producing around 417kw of power and 700Nm of torque), driven through a six-speed sequential gearbox.

    In the months before the opening round of the 2012 Australian GT Championship, the Supaloc Racing Ford GT will be subjected to a full simulation and test program. The team has already started work on the car simulation model and has planned an extensive pre-season test program to improve the correlation between simulation and real track testing. Areas the team will focus on include fine tuning kinematics and suspension dynamics, as well as the aerodynamic characteristics of the car’s unique body. Other areas of investigation will include Michelin’s new control tyre compound, which will be modelled in simulation.

    With Kevin Weeks’ superb driving ability (pole positions, fastest laps and a race win in the older Lamborgini) and development from Supaloc Racing’s team of experts, the unique Ford GT will hopefully be a front-runner in the 2012 Australian GT Championship."

    It could.

    It's GT3 spec (as far as I can tell) apart from the engine, it has the GT1 spec 5.3L N/A engine in it, but last year the Euro GT3 Fords ran a 5.4L Supercharged engine, and this year they seem to be using a 5.0 Supercharged engine. So I thought the australian GT Championship was modelled on the FIA Euro GT3 series, so I don't know why they've chosen to use the GT1 5.3L Cammer Engine.

    It will sound nucking futs regardless!

    Also, looking forward to seeing this on TV as well, it may be from the other camp, but it's great for the world of motorsport. Imagine having one of these bolted to a COTF chassis, an Merc, Audi, Falcon, Commondore, Jag XF etc etc smashing around Bathurst. That would excite me.
