Brake light switch not fixing issue.

    G'day team,

Thought I'd join these forums (hopefully) for a bit of insight into what could be going on with my 08 fg mk1 xr6 turbo.
It seemed like your typical stop light switch issue to begin with, as it was giving abs and dsc faults. I replaced the switch, 3 times now, to my absolute disappointment to find the issue is deeper.
To put it simply, when my lights are turned off, and I hit the brakes, my front parking lights flash and turn off when brake is released. My brake lights are stuck on whenever the lights are turned on, whether it be auto, parkers or fully on, this includes the light on the wing (being stuck on). It has shown a headlamp fault but once I hit select to clear it, it hasnt come back.
All I can assume is its the wires running from the 4 pin plug into the car itself. I'm at ends teather with this issue I just want to drive it again with no issues. Thanks in advance.
Ben. Ps I hope Ive posted this correctly please move if not.

Check all the connections there as you might have an earth Leak issue or crossed wire.

Sorry mate, but did you mean the plug in the boot? I loosened the plug and re tightened and it seems to be fine. It has seemed to be super temperamental though, as some times it seems fine but then throws a headlamp/dsc fault mid drive. Fingers crossed though! Thanks.

Don't know if this would help. I had issue with my head lights once, would only work on fullbeam, I checked this, I checked that. Feel like I checked everything. In the end I bypassed it n installed my own switch just so I could drive it. Once I had a fair bit of time up my sleeve I checked the wiring harness n found a spot where it had rub on an internal panel n was shorting out the high low beam switch. Fixed it no probs, so simple in the end. I guess I'd say check everything. Follow wires from lights n make sure nothing is worn through n shorting out. Just had same issue with cruise control as well, could turn it on just couldn't set it, small little contact issue. Hopefully it's something like that for u, sorry can't be of more help. Welcome this forum, glad to have ya here

Cruise won't work if your brake lights aren't working.

If they're staying on it can be an earthing issue the way the brake lights are set up.

Silly question. You haven't put led tail lights in? Or if you changed them are the globes correct?

Haven't changed the lights. Absolutely stoked to say it's fixed. It was the plug in the boot for trailer connection. The wires were slightely exposed, so I unscrewed the cap and put them back in making sure they weren't crossing which I'm sure they were before. Cruise control works now too! Thanks heaps to everyone one of you legends for the help. All that stress for such an easy fix!
