I've just done a price check for 2 rear PZeros.
$570 ea I'm quoted. (pricing sure has changed since Norms quoted price last year and what I got at the time as well)
My tyre mate questions why not go the Bridgy S001's ? he's a bridgy man ofcourse and its buy 3 get 4th free if I'm inclined to change the 4 but the fronts are fine tbh.
    The S001's are $475ea.

Randel, need another tyre mans opinion please ?

I'm loath changing from new spec but as mentioned elsewhere, maybe I should just put the stockys in the shed and buy a bling 20" set but then I'll be pissed of the ride height.
    3rd world probs.

    Question;

Are you REALLY comfortable mixing tyre brands front to rear?

I'm not, my fronts are good for another 20,000 k's which is what i'll get from the rears, so for me personally i'd only consider swapping brands as a full set.

From a lot of feedback i've got from people who i trust the only other tyre id consider other than the PZero's on a heavy high powered sports sedan used predominantly day to day sports performance use is the new Michelin 4S's, as fitted to the Mustang and E63.

Those Bridgestones id rate with the Dunlop 9000's, a great all rounder that gives excellent mileage but will trade off grip.

Not in the same class as the PZero's and Michelin 4S's for high performance grip.

Your mate is selling you what he makes the most money off, not what's best for the car.

Just a thought, if you want to know what manufacturers rate as good go look at what other large, high powered, high performance vehicles are fitted with...

You'll almost exclusively get the same 2 brands and models being used.

Then talk to people from those brands about the performance side of those cars.

They'll also tell you they like to replace them with the same tyre, because they were engineered to work together.

    Norm,
I'm in the same mind set regards to having a set of tyres same same no doubt about that.
How the F are you getting 20k's out of the rears being a daily ?
My rears in the centre more so are on the wear indicators, I'm no burn out type I tell you and as you know no daily.
A few power slides here and there but I loath a straight out intent burn out, off some spirited street light takes offs sure I get some spin in 1st and 2nd but try to feather the pedal to gain some grip.
Yes for sure my mate has Bridgy in pref being a dealer - he quotes many MB's etc have them but I've never been a Bridgy liker due to HSV/olden using them haha - I'm more inclined going Conti's as I did with the T3 and yes a full set.
I'm a fan of the PZero and as mentioned thats what Sprint was born with.

If i've got 2 issues with the PZero's it's 1) they wear in the center fast on the rears and 2) once they get to 40% they lose most of their performance.

I'd steer well clear of Conti's on a high powered car Maurie.

    WELL clear.

your description on the pzero wear is just as mine.
I suppose no tyre is perfect due to the varying conditions, use and depending the power they are having to handle but thanks its pretty clear pzeros and I'll look into mitchys only for the Sprint.
