    That said its a tribute car so it will be aimed squarely to appeal to those who feel a connection with the 78 Cobras.

    For everyone else you can probably just peel the stickers off or order components of the package to suit your tastes.
    I like the blue on the sides. Something different.

    So what we have here is acknowledged from the past that specials, we called them sticker packs sell. Anniversary models, yeah they sold too.

    10 years ago we had a FPV limited edition cobra sedan and Ute offering.

    We have had anniversary GT models, even the last falcon carried the Sprint name.

    If special editions were all Tickford were doing then yes there would be an issue but not to add fuel here, in their first year they ran up against the established mustang offerings and were not disgraced. At least their cars never blew up.

    They have their own identity package offerings and you can make your own as well.

    Be we like it or not, agree with it or not, these special editions create an identity for mustang that’s recognisable.

    When you look at these two specials from 100 meters, you know what they are. They aren’t lost in a sea of mustang mania that is built by Sam, bob, margret and Tim.

    I will give them that.


    I realise we have to find something wrong with our cars. It’s the Maurice school of cool.

    Nah just kidding mate, put the blade away, but if you are going to do a theme car it’s has to be accurate in some dimensions at least.

    That its able to complimented via a race livery, if that livery happens to win on Sunday, that’s a pretty cool association to have.

    For those who value it naturally.

    Hey folks. I try not to jump into Mustang threads but I have a question. (Actually a couple).

    First one is if this is just a tune what is stopping Ford releasing this tune for the 2020 model?

    Second is how is this Tickford related to David Flint’s Tickford that created some of the best E and A series Falcons money could buy?

    Firstly The tune would need to pass Ford validation in the states.

    If you're talking specifically Ford Australia i can't see them adopting anything that isn't developed and fully backed by FoNA.

    This "Tickford" is a reborn aftermarket version of the former OEM partner Tickford from the E/A era.

    Moving forward does anyone see an opportunity for Tickford to develop a more broadly appealing ongoing model range as opposed to one off retro specials or tick-a-box custom options?

    If we exclude the XR range a large part of Tickford's history is the TE50/TS50 models.

    Lets say a TME50 and TMS50? (Tickford Mustang E/S)

    2 levels of tune and appointments? Acknowledging their evolution as a brand/model association like FPV/Ford did with GT?

    You mean other than the touring or R line they already do?

    They dont list these under MY18.

    No because MY18 has been out how long and hows everyone else going with their developments?


    The R line or racing edition I think it's actually called is their identity. As is Tickford by design, and as are the packages by name listed under ranger.

    I believe the 535r has picked up some sort of award in the hand s of Cam. Might just have been the performance package but what makes me cry the most is certain people know hero cars often make their way to market first in order to fund the development of other more basic offerings.

    When it comes to cars, there really isnt much that hasnt been done before. When it comes to racing and road cars there has always been some sort of relationship.

    Fans say you cant cross mustang and falcon significance so for Tickford it is hard to create specials that dont trade more in the general side of ford operations than their own.

    This is largely at the feet of Ford. The process for racing mustang has been protracted to be kind.

    Being critical while knowing all this just shows you where we are as fans.

    Tickford need to race mustang and then they need to not be shit with it as much of their season has been this year.

    Leveraging drivers or race success brings in another set of complaints. Not everyone would agree a championship edition or a Chaz edition would be a great idea.

    The truth in all this means being in racing full stop is tenuous at best.

    They are damned if they try and damned if they dont. Someone always has an issue.

    My issue is the comfort around the pricing and see the point raised by perko. I like the carbon fiber idea but need to see the size of what they have done.

    I see 50% of your side issue. The car needs to be identifiable as a 78 special side on. It needs the blue but my eyes are telling me it's too much thickness.

    The interior will be the make or break for me.

    It looks good enough in pictures to make me want to see more.

    And they have used H and R since the start. They just didnt publish it. Dont know why. The car I drove was HR but they didnt want that revealed at the time.

    Ok, then somewhere in their marketing or website layout the differentiation between full time model and option list/packages gets lost or blurred.

    Well for me it does anyway, people who are far more in tune with them might not see the issue.

    Everything comes from a single drop down menu.

    Maybe they need to look at how they distinguish between models and options differently?
