    Travel Insurance Domestic Flights.

Have any of you guys/gals ever had to use travel insurance for domestic flights?
On my return from Coffs Harbour,I incurred a $315 extra expense, for overnight accommodation, meals & taxi fares.
My return flight was delayed by 24 hours, the Airline blamed bad weather, the United Airlines incident, then a food truck getting stuck behind outbound aircraft leaving Sydney Terminal.
No help arranging accommodation, taxi fares, no idea where we were to stay in Sydney, no idea how we were going to get to our unknown accommodation.
I played it safe & elected to stay in Coffs Harbour.
6 other people were involved in our flight cancellation to Perth, no other seats were available on later flights as all Aircraft were fully booked.

Got stuck on the gold coast due the volcano cloud back a few years ago with virgin and they paid for the extra nights and taxis. I did hear some people with jetstar didn't get this. I would think you could claim it on the insurance on your credit card if the airline doesn't wanna know about it.

Virgin Australia, my sister booked the morning flight into Coffs 3 months in advance, payment accepted, seat booked.
I tried to book the red eye from Perth, to connect with her flight from Sydney to Coffs, Virgin wanted $1100 one way economy class?
My sister was rebooked on the afternoon flight, a week before she was due to fly, no reason was given.
I flew Qantas Perth, Sydney, Coffs, no problems.
Returning home Virgin were cheaper by $200, the flight into Coffs was 3 hours late, for various reasons as stated.
Then a lightning storm approached Coffs, the airport was closed until 9.00pm that night, with passengers stuck in the aircraft, according to Virgin ground staff at Coffs Airport.
Then to top it all off, 24 hours later, $315 lighter in the wallet, I arrived in Perth to find my suitcase soaking wet, & my clothes drenched, it would appear groundstaff at Virgin Sydney terminal, left my suitcase out on a trolley awaiting transhipping to Perth, in the pouring rain.

    Never experienced as such domestically.
    Not a good outcome.
I sure would have gone hard on Virgin to cover my incurred costs not being my fault.
