Such a shame this never got the go ahead back in the day.
Love it.
At this stage this is just not near my "to do" list but I'll look into it as things progress and feedback from those who have got it done.

Hey guys,
Im considering this kit plus the exhaust option..awaiting to hear the cost of insurance.
My understanding is the kit includes an upgraded fuel pump but doesnt need upgraded injectors.
The story seems to be 10 test mules were provided to ford probably (and this is
my guess) around ththe time the pre-sprint xrxr8 cars were being released. ...but the project stopped due to time delays primarily..Ford shut down before it could be released.
I did some research on Ford USA crate engines, as that'd be the cheapest thing for these cars to be based on..they have 3 or 4 options for mustang crate engines, including one made for superchargers applications. Anyone know if thats what they started with when making this engine?
I agree that manifold is a work or art...a faaaar better solution than drilling the standard one, or introducing a spacer and putting the engine very close to the bonnet.
Now, time to plan driveshaft (killed at 25k) and diff bush (same ) upgrades!

It’s forced me to change insurers as I had no cover with who I was with. It’s also saved me money by doing so.
The intercooler was never in production frame once it died in 2010.
Its was meant to come to market at that time but becomes still born. That set was different to what is in use now.
What we have now is similar to what was found on a calibration mule used during gtf/sprint development.
The stories around this being a late development that Ford cancelled are wrong. It’s more of unfinished business from the 40 million investment originally but with programming learnings of more recent time.
GTF for example would provide a tuning evolution from which HG would benefit. In 2010, the GTF tune never existed outside theory.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
A big part of that is those options are at a far higher tune ask than what Premcar are providing.
Effectively the power gained with the HG package is on the low side. That’s what’s got people up in arms on the bang for buck equation.
It also shows how they are achieving their gains.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
Good to hear that got you to look at other insurance companies.
Yes what others do or don't is based on what is actually being enhanced and how much power - then its to change this and that.
I expect Premcar are in the "safer" sense with HG.

Absolutely but that doesn’t automatically imply that a $2500 tune that approaches a similar number will automatically be at risk.
There are elements to value, what consumers value and when they choose to apply them. There are some real simpletons out there when it comes to, “I can get more for less”
If it’s a supercharged car, you start with the lowest cost option.
If it’s a turbo car, you start at the lowest cost option.
No mater what you did or didn’t do in the justification process, once you head down the FPV story frontage, this is the ultimate of those journals.
This goes back to the Rod Barrett days not just 2014 and for that it’s nearly priceless for those who know what went on back then.
History is a statement, the future is a question.

Yes its a great storey Ian, good for you going ahead and others.

There is zero future in paying more than one need to.
At the same time, you can’t take it with you either. You won’t be back to tell a different story.
It’s an exclusive niche part of the market this is aimed at where the justification to want it and pay for it is probably equal parts about the desire to own the last part of the set.
It’s not clarity, it’s not absolute because it’s not Ford endorsed, but in a market that does have understanding, it carries a certain cachet for those who want to see it that way and value it.
For me there is only one option to modify a GTF. All other avenues are a dilution of what that car means.
That isn’t to say it’s universally accepted as there are three groups on this subject.
Purity for purity says any modification is a reduction.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
I love the idea of the product. The fact that it looks factory is even better. The main issue for me is I just can't afford it. The second is that it is not Ford endorsed and how far do you mod before that purity is diluted.
Next year I would like to add an intercooler to the XR8. Not for a power grab but to keep intake temps down and a finish to the motor. If this is still an option I will genuinely look at it. If this is not an option then the only other I would consider would be the Herrod product.
Ford Heritage : KF Laser, XF Ute, XH Tradesman Ute, EL Futura, AU2 Ute, XD Ute, XH XR6 Ute, BA XR8 Ute, SX Territory, BF XR8 Sedan, EB2 S XR6, EB1 S XR8, WQ Fiesta, FGX XR8, PX2 Ranger, WP Fiesta, PX3 Ranger XLT, Next Gen Ranger XLT
It’s not so much the appearance but the consistency in the methodology of the tune.
This is where you will get differing opinions. Most tunes are a cheat. They tamper with a few parameters and away you go armed with your dyno sheet improvement proof.
This isn’t that. In fact I am not sure this has occurred anywhere in the world.
In most cases car companies are responsible for new engines. In this case it was prodrive lead and driven by one man.
In most cases the donor product doesn’t become extinct but yet the engine could be phased out.
In all cases the “owner” of the engine doesn’t come back and revisit the situation 3 years out of product production.
In terms of purity, that’s running at 100% because the motivation is one that says you need to see, feel and hear what OUR engine is like, by our hand.
No other entity is able to do that.
That’s a particular way of looking at the situation and I feel personally it’s the only way in a purity sense because it accurately looks at the elements that make up the Miami story.
In terms of the product is placed in, the highest name plate in the country, GT has a lot of baggage attached.
For concourse judging for example, not even this by whom is enough to be recognised in any other way other than modified.
It will not be 100% agreement, but looking at the way the media have reacted, outside the purists who understand what’s happened, this coverage is more likely to give far greater credibility to the power of this association in both acceptance and desirability.
All of a sudden any risk associated with depreciation of the donor car by this act is restricted as awareness increases.
The exclusivity doesn’t hurt.
This is the W1 of Miami by a team who were involved at a level that’s unprecedented outside of organisations called crosworth.
If you tick every option box, you are staring at a post manufacturing W1 product that is way more exclusive.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
