We reviewed the stinger. Wasn’t impressed.

There is no comparison to the 18 mustang as a drivers car. In fact there is little in common with the 17 mustang.

Awesome work Colville on both the write up and purchase.

Funnily I spot them more than any FPV the last 5yrs for eg when driving around compared to MY17/18 no matter still a new shape Mustang, not unique this side but being its new you can spot them a mile away and not surprising the attention they draw.
Yes I do wish they were more exclusive but not going to happen unless for LE models hopefully in the future.

    Hang on a minute.

That’s like saying because Mark, Peter, Paul And Allen wear hats I can’t.

Mustang, to me makes no sense as a specialist car. In its current form, not even bullet addresses this.

You get it as cheap as you possibly can, you drive the wheels off it, and you move it on.

I can tell you right here and right now, if I had an 18 in the shed, it’s going to dominate the driving.

Slow is still raving about it. Where ever he is.

Those blokes can wear the hats all they want, I probably chose not to no big deal.

Mustang to me was a specialist car, and yes now in its current it will not be.
Bullitt only gets mention for it does have some minor differences to the common GT but not enough, its just a dollar spinner.

Slowwwwwwww's review, like watching grass grow or paint dry.

But you drive a hilux. At what point did you decide being a lamb was ok there?

No one gives a toss how many cars are out on the street.

If there are lots of them it's because they are good.

This comes down to driving. Not how many or how common they are. Not as a daily.

You can personalize your tonka toy all you like, it's still white goods.

Tonka white goods bant means nothing to me - its a far better practical daily that suits my needs than a pony for me full stop.

Which is all well and good but unless you are being funny on purpose, you can’t very well say there are too many mustangs, too common when for daily duties you drive the most common car sold on the planet. That’s hypocrisy.

What suits or is fit for purpose is a completely different subject that does not involve popularity sales as a negative.

You are roughly in the same position I am in. My daily is a Ute. Mustang makes sense mostly as a daily so it comes back to how much do I use the tray and in your case also that back seat. If it’s really rare, maybe the mustang might scrape through.

But unequivocally, this isn’t in question, the driving and ownership experience is by far the best offered by Ford. Over a period of time, come the weekend, you won’t bother getting the sprint out to enjoy your favourite road.

What anyone else does is no concern of mine. I honestly don’t care, but anyone dismissing this product because it’s only XR hasn’t driven it.

The first gen was XR. This is FPV. While it might appear common in appearance, what’s underneath has all who have sampled it raving. This is a very different beast that doesn’t deserve dismissal easily or without attempting to live with it.

I am in record yes? Supposedly linked to hate of the brand.

Never the case. I just don’t respect its heritage as I do falcon. Any sentimentally went in 2016. Now it has to be about merit and to do that you have to be impartial and honest.

While acknowledging its packaging deficiencies, the driving experience is pinnacle. That goes a long long way.

The only downside is the manual. It’s been said to me the gearing is stuffed in it.

That’s ok, I would not take the manual anyway but for some that would be a deal breaker. Now that I get. That’s a legit reason.

Re on the road I'm telling you, in Sydney I see more ponys than I ever have re FPV's no BS, its daily and I don't travel all over the metro everyday like some would. Yep I have the No1 selling vehicle for how many years, a daily has nothing special and pny is no where near those numbers ofcourse but even so they stick out on the road daily here.
    I understand your point,
FPV even back in the good days if you can call it that they were/are scarce, anyway not a deal breaker but they are getting common to me (some think great) - to me a purchase as such is special being its a performance product not catergerised as a white goods/daily but maybe I should re think its stance in the market, more and more will be on the raod maybe it will lose its old aura and be like a taxi terminology as once used

Were similar and not - similar having utes no matter the variant, as I said the white goods 4x4 I have kills the pony for my daily needs, I could have up to 4 and 5 passengers any given afternoon, (weekends likely a number of times due to football already started so the wife/daughter/friend come along) throw crap in the back, their bags/sports gear/shopping/Bunnings visits from plants to 1/4ton of top soil/sand/cement bags/wife buying furniture here there anywhere to pick up - beach/dune fun x4 times a year/2nd son will start using it P's about to get.
So to consider a pony for me its a weekender, a special like Sprint/T3 driving pleasure as you say so unless I change my whole lifestyle which isn't going to happen this is where I'm coming from, were all different.
So a GT to me right now means nothing, even though I have huge admiration for the past re the marque I have no vested interest of the today, like you Falcon takes/took my heart but not this, it means nothing, IF there was something special I would consider purely drawn in because of that but you know me.....I'd have to test the manual as you know stuffed or not and if its that bad sounds like I won't end up in one...ho hum, like I said more likely in a Euro/Jap more common hipo lol.....

Well the sales figures would agree with that... They sell probably 5 times as many Mustangs as FPV's...

On another note my biggest gripe with Mustang is build quality. Especially paint. I am fussy and dont want a car that looks like its been repaired or has issues with paint thickness. They really struggle with this which is a wonder given the advancements in paint technology... They really need to go spend some time in Europe and learn how to paint. The paint on my FGX kills most Mustangs ive looked at. Even the My18 / My 19 still have paint issues, which holds me back from buying one.
