There is a couple of good videos on the net about the Michelin tyre differences.

I found them while doing W1 research actually. Pzero-trofeo-r come highly rated and in most areas beat the cup 2 tyres.

The one massive failing of the Pirelli is aqua planning. The Michelin’s do better in this regard.

I have to admit the W1 has more finess to its package than I had hoped they would achieve. I like the car a lot but wouldn’t buy it.

The HG follows a very similar path, but for road use I just can’t get my head around the 4s being the better option.
History is a statement, the future is a question.

    By what sort of measurement?

What do you mean by handle?

    Are you talking about usability?
    Or
    Breaking?

What I mean is that the relationship between Ford and Pro drive ended when they couldn't agree who was going to pay for the development for the chassis to be able to handle more power, and unleash the Miami. Now years later Premcar have released power upgrade close to 500kw. Why couldn't this power be offered by Ford.

I did ask how many iPhones wide was it? He didn’t understand.
This is common over my years with many rim tyre combos and just as the guy quotes above, you get X brand at 275/30 and X other brand looks to have a wider footprint And the wall design varies, some buldge out more than others.
Wheel offsets (and widths) can give another illusion.
The amount of times I have tried X rim yet same offset and you decide to try another brand tyre but same measurements you wonder why you scrape when before you didn't.
The combinations are huge/vafried when stepping away from the OE spec and Falcon ever since changing from the leaf rear to coil has always had it short comings especially in wheel choices as the years have gone on.

What about all the firewall/ engine bay claims that the chassis cannot handle more power.

    Is premcar strengthening the firewall.

I actually don’t know what your referring to.

Now this to my knowledge has never been confirmed but the relationship between Ford and Prodrive never ended over any such issue on funding moving forward.

The issue I think you are referring to is to do with the death of GT-H. The fall out from that saw the XR8 die and the GS born in its place. The specific issue, or one of the issues around why the H was cancelled was rectified when the ecu was upgraded. I think in my coverage of the GTF a big part of what was achieved there is ECU related.

The firewall story, that was rectified prior to the 2010 release.

It’s true some cars were on the line, but the line was haulted, an engineering fix was put in place and then the cars proceeded. I know because mine was one of the cars that was fixed on the line prior to the firewall modifcation going into the production proper.

Thanks for clearing this up Ian.

So the go or no go on gt-h hinged on the ECU and it's ability to handle things like driveline protection and individual boost maps for gears and not chassis durability?
