    Chassis number XY

    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has been through this issue.

25 years ago my XY Fairmont had a new front end replacement.

They restamped the chassis number next to the Number that came with the new front end.

So now has two chassis numbers.

I have owned the car for 20 years and it has always been regoed under the fairmont chassis number that was restamped in the repair.

Im now looking at selling the car and just wanted to get this sorted before hand has anyone had any experience with this

    Cheers for the help.

What number came with the new front end? Or was it a cut and shut using an existing front?

It will probably need police numbers added.

Yes thats correct complete new front end from a Falcon 500.

Work was completed by panel a panel shop and they were the ones that restamped it.

Ok, so it wasnt a new front end, it was a grafted front end off another car.

You'll need the car looked at by your local RTA who will probably issue new numbers.

Yeah ok I will have to try and get a mod plate for it first or it will be pulled off the road quick smart.

Do you think its possible they might just use the original chassis number from the new front end ?

I have just had the engine bay painted and dont really want them restamping and wrecking paint etc.

What a mess I could of purchased a gt for the same price I purchased this car 20 years ago.

But was only 16 didnt know what I was looking at.

Couldn’t you just grind the wrong number off? Or would raise too many flags for prospective buyers

Would have to grind off the number then find a stamp that looks factory and restamp back over it and then grind the other number that is stamped in the wrong place off etc

Defenitely not the path I want to go down..........
