    Clay v iron removers

🗯 TIP: DECONTAMINATION - CLAY vs IRON REMOVERS

💬 As times move on, we see more & more innovative products. The most recent causing confusion is people referring to Iron Removers as 'liquid clay' that can offer the same decontamination as a clay bar car - partly true but not entirely. (Q2 Iron, Colourtec, Purple Rain)

💬 Deironisers will remove any iron particles on your paintwork as well as some tar & grime, this can help to minimize marring during the clay barring process, they don't replace a clay bar though. Removing most of the embedded stuff chemically means your clay is picking up less tar/iron particles which means it is less likely for you to pick up and drag these along your paint when claying.

💬 Think of it this way in comparison to a safe wash method. The fallout remover is your pre-wash and the clay bar is your wash mitt. The whole point of a pre wash prior to physically touching the car paint is to remove as much of the larger particles of dirt as possible. This minimizes the chance of you scratching the paintwork when it comes to making physical contact with the paint.

💬 The most effective way of removal of ALL contaminants from your paint would be by using a combination of chemical and mechanical methods such as, Iron Fallout Remover, Tar Remover and a Clay Bar/Clay Cloth.

💬 It is imperative that you remover all contaminants on your paintwork before you correct your paintwork with a polisher, before you apply your fresh coat of wax or ceramic coating. Failing to do so can result in your polishers pad damaging your paintwork, your protection not offering its full potential (durability/finish).

💬💬 PS! Do not forget a suitable Clay Lubricant or you will definitely mar your paintwork during the clay process!

💬 So next time you come to your annual or bi-annual detail, ensure you have the right tools for the right detail!

    Thinking the same thing.

I thought this article was worth sharing because it makes sense. The idea of clay bar use with this sort of contamination never sat right with me.

I am definitely going to be looking into this approach.
