Holden axed in Australia as General Motors gets out of right-hand-drive globally.

The Holden brand will be retired at the end of this year, selected showrooms may stock a limited range of Chevrolet vehicles under new General Motors Specialty Vehicles badge.

Whilst expected, not expected quite so soon.

Car Advice say end of the year, who would buy a Holden now?

Got to feel sorry for the dealers and their employees.

Hopefully Ford don't follow the same path.

I really thought they would try rebranding over pulling out completely.

    End of an era.

Could of tried rebranding but I think they still end up in same position. They left it to late n damage was already done. Gm just didn't have a clear plan which didn't encourage people to buy the brand.

    Wow.

I knew it was coming, but did not expect it to come this soon.

The vacuum that will be left in the motoring landscape is going to be huge.

On the bright side, as a lapsed Ford fan, it means we do, indeed, win.

Like everyone said, we knew it was coming. It is sad to see an end of a badge like this. However, the blue oval boy in me still is celebrating! Last man standing, still original branding, still designing cars in Australia, and I will still be supporting the brand. One other thing to look at though, what ramifications does this have for Supercars? Is this the final nail in the coffin for that series?

My understanding is Holden will honor its commitment to stay racing Commodores until the end of 2021. That gives Supercars 2 years to find a competitor for the Mustang.

Edit: I stand corrected. Holden is now not committing to anything past 2020. https://10daily.com.au/news/sport/a2...oEX5I6vRRSjx6Q
